While there is no official fix for the mic/party chat not working issue, there are some settings that can be tweaked a bit to troubleshoot problems with your microphone. So, apply the settings mentioned below and check if your mic starts working.

Audio Settings

First, make sure you have set the correct audio settings in-game. To do this, head over to the in-game Settings menu, visit the Audio tab, and make the following changes:

  • Audio Mix Settings: Navigate to the Options menu and access Audio Settings. Ensure that the right audio device is selected.
  • Master Volume: Next, click on “Show More” under the Master Volume options, and make sure that the voice chat volume is turned up adequately.
  • Voice Chat: Now, under the Voice Chat options, make sure all the sub-options (Last Words Voice Chat and Proximity Chat) are set to “On” and set the Game Voice Channel to “All Lobby”.
  • Microphone: Navigate to the Open Mic Sensitivity option and adjust the Open Mic sensitivity level if your microphone isn’t activating. You can also increase the microphone level to your liking. But the most important thing is to turn the “Mute yourself while connecting to a channel” option “Off”.

Account and Network Settings

Once you are done with the Audio settings, head back to the main settings menu and select Account and Network. Here, you will have the option for Crossplay Communication. Just make sure that Crossplay Communication is enabled.

In-Game Adjustments

If you are in a match and have joined the Voice channel, here are the in-game settings for fixing microphone and party chat issues in COD Modern Warfare 3.

  • Press “Options” in-game.
  • Tab over to “Channels”.
  • Under “Squad”, select the channel you’re connected to.
  • Check people’s names to ensure they’re not muted.
  • Next, head to the “Options” (gear icon) at the top right corner.
  • Here, set the game voice chat to “All” and turn on Proximity chat.

Other Workarounds?

If your mic isn’t working even after trying the settings mentioned above, power cycle your system/console and switch to a wired connection if possible. Other than that, you can disconnect any other peripherals connected to your PC or console and try using a different audio device to check if your device was faulty in the first place.

For now, these are the available workarounds that you can try to address microphone and party chat issues in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Keep in mind that these suggestions are not guaranteed fixes, so if the problem persists, it’s advisable to stay tuned for official updates from the game developers or community forums for potential solutions.
