The official release of the sequel to 2022’s COD Modern Warfare II is just a few weeks away. Slated for a November 10, 2023 release, COD Modern Warfare 3 will be available for PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X/S|One, and Windows. While there’s still some time left until the official release, Activision is currently hosting a beta for the game for both PCs and consoles. And like any other beta release, players have encountered lots of errors in the game. One of them is the focus of this guide: Error Code 14515.
So far, it looks like this particular error code is related to connection or server issues. The effect? Well, for starters, players are unable to start matchmaking. And besides all that, there’s the usual multiplayer issue shenanigans. So, if you are encountering this error code after the game’s beta on PC is released, consider reading this guide for workarounds to fix it.
COD Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) Beta Error Code 14515: Is there any fix yet
Players can try the following workarounds mentioned below to deal with this particular error code in the game. We do expect that such bugs and error codes will not be present in the game’s official release. But only time will tell whether this holds true. Anyway, here are the workarounds for you to try.
Check server status –
Since this particular is related to connection issues, we suggest that you check if the game’s server is under maintenance or not. You can expect issues like these whenever the servers are being worked on. But they are temporary, so all you have to do is wait until the server maintenance is complete. Since the game is yet to be fully released, the best place to check server status would be to follow the official Call of Duty and Activision Support Twitter handles.
Wait for some time –
Since this issue usually occurs due to server overload, it is better to wait for some time once you encounter the error code. Playing during peak hours can lead to this error code’s occurrence, so try logging in at a different time.
Restart –
You can even try restarting the game and see if that helps resolve this issue. It’s a simple and quick method, one that has proved effective in solving quite a lot of other issues. How effective will it be in regard to this one? Well, we can’t really say much, but give it a try at least once. And if the issue persists, you can try restarting your console or PC itself.
Check your connection –
Whenever you have any connection or server-related issues, besides checking server status, you should also check your own connection. See to it that there are no major interferences and that the internet connection has good speed.
Switch to Ethernet –
A wired connection is always better than a wireless one. If you’ve been using Wi-Fi so far, we highly recommend that you plug in your Ethernet and then start the game. You can also try restarting your router or even resetting it. Even then, if you still encounter error code 14515, try connecting to a different network.
Allow the game through the firewall –
This and the next workaround are mainly for PC players. Now, coming to this workaround, Windows’ Firewall is known to block internet access for arbitrary reasons. The same might be the case here. And even if it’s not, you should follow this method to prevent the firewall from blocking internet access for MW3. And it’s pretty easy to do that. All you need to do is:
- Open Windows Settings and go to Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Firewall & Network Protection.
- In the next window, scroll down and select Allow an app through Firewall.
- This time, another new mini-window will pop up with a list and several options. Here, you need to click on Change Settings button and allow admin access.
- Next, find MW3 in the list below. If it isn’t there, click on the “Allow another app…” button and add the game’s .exe file.
- Now, checkmark both Private and Public options. End the process by clicking OK.
Disable VPN –
If using a VPN, we recommend you disable it and then start the game. While VPNs have advantages of their own, they also tend to slow down your internet speed resulting in issues like this. So, disable them and then check if the issue remains.
Contact support –
You can also let the official support team take a look at this issue and see if they are able to help you deal with this error. Raise a support ticket on the official website of Activision Support, and wait until the team reaches out to you with a reply.
That’s the extent of our knowledge about fixing this particular issue. By the way, if you want to change your Operator’s finishing move in COD MW3, check out this guide.
