Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is the recently released installment in the COD video game series. This game is developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. Talking about the game’s launch response, it is not an ideal one when we compare it to other famous COD installments like Vanguard or Warzone. One of the main reasons behind some negative reviews is the issues that players are facing while running this game on PC. One of the many issues that players are facing is the inability to save the game progress. If you have encountered the same issue, then you are at the right place. Carry on reading for the fixes.
Fix: COD Modern Warfare 2 (II) Game Progress not saving issue
Not each issue popping up in the game is there due to the developers’ fault. Some can be resolved at the players’ end as well. Here are some methods that you must follow to resolve the game not saving issue in COD MW2 (II).
1) Allow the cod.exe file through Antivirus Program and Windows Security
If you are using any third-party antivirus software, then you must allow this game through it. If you are unable to find that option, just temporarily disable your antivirus. If you are not using any antivirus software, move on to allowing the game.exe file through Windows Security. For that,
- Type “Virus and threat protection” in the Windows Search Bar and click on the first result.
- Find and select “Manage Ransomware Protection” after scrolling to the bottom.
- Next, select “Allow an app through controlled folder access” and then “Yes” to allow.
- Now, click on “Add an allowed app” and select “Browse all apps”.
- Finally, browse to the game installation folder and add the cod.exe file to the list. To find the game installation folder, refer to this default path: C drive > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common> Call of Duty HQ. Once added, you must add every other .exe file that is present in this folder by following the same steps.
After these steps, you must also allow this app through Windows Defender Firewall:
- Open Control Panel by searching for it in the Windows Search bar.
- Go to System and Security, and select Windows Defender Firewall.
- On the left side, you can now see an option, ‘Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender firewall’. Select it.
- Now click on Change Settings > Allow Another App > Browse.
- Next, navigate again to the game’s installation folder and then add all the .exe files present in the Call of Duty HQ folder as done above.
2) Verify game files
If allowing this game through Windows Security did not help you, then verification of game files can do the job. To verify game files on steam, go to Steam Library, right-click on COD Modern Warfare 2, and select Properties. Then go to the Local files tab and select “Verify Integrity of Game Files”.
