Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War including its multiplayer mode has now been presented in detail. The developer has also officially announced how the early access phase and the open beta will run – and how you can get beta keys.
What you need to know about the Open Beta
Anyone who watched Modern Warfare’s beta in 2019 could have a slight deja vu experience. The Black Ops Cold War is very similar: there are again two beta weekends, the first of which is reserved for the Playstation 4.
1st weekend
- Platform: Playstation 4
- Period (Early Access): October 8th – 9th, 2020
- Period (Open Beta): October 10th – 12th, 2020
2nd weekend
- Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4 (Crossplay)
- Period (Early Access): October 15-16, 2020
- Period (Open Access): October 17-19, 2020
How to get early access: In order to take part in the early access to the multiplayer beta, you have to pre-order the game on the respective platform.
The second weekend comes with a little something special: while PC and Xbox have their early access, there is “open access” on the PS4. So everyone can play. From October 17th to 19th, however, anyone can play without a key, regardless of which platform you use.
How big is the beta?
So far there is no official statement about the scope of the beta. However, you will only be able to play the multiplayer mode and have no access to the shooter’s single-player campaign, which has already been announced.
More information on multiplayer
A whole range of content has already been presented along with the multiplayer reveal. We have summarized all previously confirmed weapons and perks for you.
In addition, there are no firm plans as to how the developer will deal with the Battle Royale offshoot Warzone in the future. This game mode, which is also available individually, will remain an important pillar for the series in the future.
