Clash of Clans has continued to not only survive but also thrive, following its original release in 2012. And it’s all thanks to the exciting and innovative content the developers at Supercell keep releasing frequently. And the recent major update also introduced a lot of new features into the game, including something called Blacksmith. And this, of course, has many players curious about what the purpose of it is supposed to be.
Things like this are critical to keeping player retention high. And, Supercell certainly has done an amazing job at that. The recent update introduced stuff like Townhall Level 16, a new troop called Root Rider, a new pet hero named Spirit Fox, and much more. The Blacksmith, as we stated before, is, of course, one of those newly introduced things. So, continue reading to find out how you can use it in the game.
Clash of Clans (CoC): How to use Blacksmith
The Blacksmith is a new building that’s unlocked when you reach Townhall 8. Essentially, its main purpose is to unlock and upgrade hero equipment. But what’s hero equipment? Well, as the name suggests, these are items that any of your heroes can equip. The special thing about this hero equipment is that equipping two of them will give a hero a special ability, ultimately making them more effective in battles.
Currently, there are only two equipment types – Common and Epic. The former is unlocked by the Blacksmith while the latter is exclusive to Special Events for now.
Now, the starting resource you require to build a Blacksmith is 750,000 gold. It will take a full 24 hours to build one, so be mindful of that. At first, you get the following three pieces of equipment for the Barbarian King:
- Barbarin Puppet (Active Ability – Summons a pack of ranged Barbarians)
- Rage Vial (Active Ability – Castes Rage on the Barbarian King)
- Earthquake Boots (Active Ability – Causes a powerful earthquake that destroys walls and damages buildings)
You might have realized by now that the first two pieces of equipment were there before. Well, now you can upgrade them individually. Now, in order to upgrade this equipment, you will need ores. There are three types of these ores.
- Shiny Ore: Earned from Clan Wars and Star Bonus.
- Glowy Ore: Also earned from Clan Wars and Star Bonus.
- Starry Ore: This can only be earned from Clan Wars and Special Events.
Common-tier Hero Equipment mostly needs Shiny Ore to upgrade. At every third level, you will need to use a Glowy Ore to upgrade. Epic Equipment, on the other hand, can be upgraded up to level 9 by using Shiny ores. However, after that, you will need a Starry Ore to upgrade.
To upgrade your Blacksmith to Level 2, you will need to reach Townhall Level 9. After that, all you need is 1700000 Gold and to wait for 2 days. Reaching Blacksmith Level 2 will unlock the Giant Arrow equipment for Queen Archer. Blacksmith Level 3 requires 2300000 Gold and 3 days. This will unlock Vampstache equipment for the Barbarian King. Once you reach Townhall 11, you can upgrade the Blacksmith to level 4 with 3000000 Gold and 4 days of time.
This will unlock the Rage Gem equipment for Grand Warden. Next, reach Townhall 12, and you will get to upgrade the Blacksmith to level 5 by using 5500000 Gold and a total of 5 days, following which you will get the Healer Puppet equipment for Grand Warden. As usual, going to Townhall 13 will allow you to upgrade the Blacksmith to Level 6 with 8500000 Gold and an upgrade time of 6 days. This will also unlock another new piece of equipment for the Grand Warden: the Healing Tome. Blacksmith Level 7 requires 12000000 Gold and 7 Days. And of course, your townhall needs to be level 14. This time, you will not get any new equipment. All you will be able to do is upgrade your equipment to a few more levels. Further two levels are also the same, although in the future we can expect this to change.
