Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3) Best Controller Settings Guide (PS5, & Xbox Controllers)

During the early access phase, Baldur’s Gate 3 did not have controller support. That has changed with the full release of the game. Baldur’s Gate 3, while only available for PC at the time of writing this article, still features controller support. Which means that you can plug in your controller and play the game through it. However, if you are planning to do so, you will need to map the buttons for maximum efficiency and ease of play. And that is what we will be discussing in this article. So, regardless of the controller of your choice, a PS5 or an Xbox controller, we will tell you about the best controller settings to get the most out of a controller while playing Baldur’s Gate 3.

Now, using a controller to play Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a distinct advantage, particularly when it comes to the movement and exploration aspects. The “Point & Click” movement on PC with a mouse and keyboard is switched to a TPP view when using a controller’s joystick, allowing you to smoothly navigate through the game world and look around. This can create a more immersive and comfortable experience, especially if you prefer a more relaxed and laid-back gaming style. However, where the controller truly shines is during exploration and non-combat interactions. Walking around and surveying the environment is intuitive and feels great with a controller, providing a natural and enjoyable way to explore the intricate details of the game world. In other words, exploring with a controller feels like playing a traditional third-person RPG. With that out of the way, let us take a look at the best settings for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Controllers for Baldur’s Gate 3.
