Atlas Fallen is the latest title to come out from the German video game development studio Deck13. Known for releasing Souls-like titles such as Lords of the Fallen and The Surge series, this one, however, is not like their other games. For Atlas Fallen, Deck13 decided to go with the Action RPG genre instead of their usual stick. That choice has certainly been great for them, as both critics and fans seem to be in love with the new combat style. However, the game has also received some fair criticism for its sub-par voice acting and mediocre storyline. Aside from all that, the game has some pretty major issues that need immediate addressing. One such issue is the controller or gamepad not working properly, which players have reported encountering.
While this is a very common issue that occurs in most recently released games, there’s also an additional problem. It seems like some players’ controller buttons, like the LT (Left Trigger) and RT (Right Trigger), don’t work at all. Combos are also not being recognized properly by the game. This is not ideal for a game that heavily focuses on combat besides everything else. So, is there any fix? Let’s find out!!
Atlas Fallen Controller/Gamepad Not Working Issue on PC: Is there any fix yet
As of now, there are no official fixes available for this issue, but the developers are aware of it. So, an official fix should be released soon. Until then, you can try out these potential workarounds.
Check your hardware –
The first thing to do with any kind of controller issue is to check it first. See if it has suffered any recent damage or not. If the gamepad uses a battery to run, try changing the batteries. Ensure that the controller is in good physical condition and that it has no significant damage.
Restart your gamepad –
There are times when all you need to do is perform a restart to fix an issue. Try doing a quick restart of your controller/gamepad and see if the issue persists.
Update your controller –
Even controllers need software updates to function optimally. So, if you haven’t performed a firmware/software update on your controller in a while, please do so immediately. Once the update is installed, check if the issue persists.
Test your gamepad at Hardware Tester –
Hardware Tester is a website that has a myriad of online tools available for specific devices or accessories. Players can test out their gamepad there to see if the controller has any issues. You can check your controller buttons, drift, joystick axes, and more. And it’s free, so you don’t have to worry about paying any money.
Switch to wired connection –
If you have been using a wireless controller to play Atlas Fallen, we suggest that you switch to a wired connection. Use the USB cable that came with the controller to connect it to your system, and see if you encounter the issue.
Connect another controller –
Sometimes the issue could be simply that you have a faulty controller. The best thing to do here is to simply use another controller. Plus, by doing so, you can check if the issue is with your old controller or the game itself.
Repair Atlas Fallen –
One major reason why this issue keeps happening could be that the game is missing one or two files. You can quickly solve this problem by repairing the game files. To do that, open Steam and then go to Library. Once that’s done, right-click on Atlas Fallen and select Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.
Enable/Disable Steam Input –
Although Steam Input is a useful feature, it can create unknown issues that can cause your controller to malfunction. So, consider disabling it. You can do this by heading to your Steam library, right-clicking on Atlas Fallen, and selecting the Controller tab. Here, find the Override setting and set it to Disable Steam Input. After doing so, restart Steam and launch the game. Now, connect your controller, and then check if the issue persists.
Redownload Atlas Fallen –
If none of the aforementioned workarounds work, then the last thing that you can do is reinstall the game. Do note that this will mean losing all of your progress unless you have created a local backup or have your progress saved on the cloud. After a clean installation, the issue might be fixed.
