Before we move further, let us see what the Carcharodontosaurus actually is. Well, to begin with, it’s an extremely large carnivorous dino. It is very aggressive, and if you ever happen to cross paths with one in the game, you can be sure that it will try to attack you. Other smaller dinos are not safe from this predator either. You will spot the Carcharodontosaurus at locations where you can find a Giganotosaurus. Well, these Carcharodontosaurus usually spawn at locations where Gigas are present. Some of their spawn locations include:
- The Frozen Fang (The Island)
- The Frozen Tooth (The Island)
- Boreal Forest (Valguero)
- Death Sands (Ragnarok)
- Stormgrove Mountain (Genesis Part 2)
- Fornland (Fjordur)
- Hildan Pass (Lost Island)
So, if you want to tame them, start your search by exploring the above-mentioned areas first. With that out of the way, let’s see the strategy to catch and tame a Carcharodontosaurus when you spot one.
ARK Survival Evolved Carcharodontosaurus taming guide: How to get it?
Taming a Carcharodontosaurus is all about catching it first and then winning its trust for you to be its companion. After all, it wouldn’t make sense to knock out such a massive dino in order to tame it. That being said, once you are in a location where you can find some Carcharodontosaurus, follow the steps mentioned below to catch and tame them.
- Build a trapping structure with foundations and walls, leaving an entrance or gate for the Carcharodontosaurus to enter. Place bear traps inside the trap to immobilize the Carcharodontosaurus once it steps on them.
- Lead the Carcharodontosaurus into the trap by attracting its attention.
- Once the Carcharodontosaurus is inside the trap, quickly close the entrance or gate to prevent its escape. The bear traps should do their job and stun the dino for a few minutes
- When the dino is trapped, you need to feed it in order to gain its trust. So, kill other creatures, preferably big creatures such as rhinos, and drag their corpses near the trapped Carcharodontosaurus. With luck, it will sniff and consume the corpses.
Note: While feeding the Carcharodontosaurus, be cautious as it may attempt to attack you if you get too close. So, keep your distance and stay safe.
- As you feed the dino, a taming progress bar will appear above its head. It will gradually increase with each corpse consumed. Continue dragging and providing corpses until the taming bar reaches 100%.
- Once the taming bar reaches 100%, you will be able to ride it. Also, notice the “Taming Effectiveness” progress bar that pops up on your screen.
- Your next objective is to fill this progress bar. To do so, just go on a rampage while riding the Carcharodontosaurus, and make sure to kill any living creature that you stumble upon.
- When the progress bar turns green with a 100% indication, you will have successfully tamed the dino.
You can now give the dino a name and even attach a saddle to it after reaching a certain level. And there you have it. By following those steps, you should be able to tame a Carcharodontosaurus in Ark Survival Evolved. Well, that is it for this tutorial. We hope this was helpful.
