The highly anticipated remake of Ark: Survival Evolved got its PC release on October 25, 2023. Called Ark: Survival Ascended, the game was originally meant to have a console release too, but it got delayed due to multiplayer-related issues and will now see its PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release sometime in November 2023. While the remake is certainly fun to play, it does suffer from certain technical issues. And we will be discussing one of them in this guide. While ASE was good in itself, it was the mods that made the game so fun. Since ASA is such a new release, it only has a few mods right now. But whatever mods are available, they are great and provide good value to the overall gameplay. However, due to unknown reasons, players are unable to install mods in the game. Ark Survival Ascended (ASA) Mods Not Installing Error: Is there any fix yet
Players will have to make do with the following workarounds since the developers have yet to acknowledge this issue. Try these and see if any of them are of help.
Verify files –
Always try verifying files when faced with issues such as this. In case this is your first time using this method, here’s how you can do it:
- Open Steam and navigate to Library.
- Next, find Ark: Survival Ascended and right-click on it.
- Select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
- Now, all that’s left to do is restart the PC after the verification process is complete.
Wait a while –
Since ASA mods can be installed via the in-game Mods List menu and CurseForge, you can expect some issues like this when the servers are down. The only fix to that is to simply play the waiting game. Don’t worry, though. You don’t need to wait an hour or so. Server issues are resolved pretty quickly, so you should be able to install the mods in no time.
Restart –
You can also use the restart method if you haven’t tried it before. Just do a quick restart of the game and see if that helps. Otherwise, you can also try restarting the PC. If the issue persists, try another workaround.
Check mod compatibility –
Some players have tried and are trying to use Ark: Survival Evolved’s mods for Ark: Survival Ascended. And it’s important to know that ASE mods will not work for ASA. The only compatible mods for ASA are available on CurseForge and the in-game Mods List. So, if you are trying to download and install mods from some other source, then that’s the primary cause behind this issue. Also, you need to ensure that you are installing updated mods.
Delete mods and reinstall –
As suggested by this player, you can also try deleting your mods and then reinstalling them. Essentially, what you need to do is head to this directory first:<Steam install directory>\steamapps\common\Ark Survival Ascended\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64\ShooterGame\Mods\personal ID number. Now, just delete the mods in this directory and then try reinstalling them.
Reinstall –
The last possible fix for this issue is to simply reinstall the game. It’s quite a drastic measure, but it’s the only method that has the possibility of fixing this issue if the previous workarounds didn’t provide any results.
