Ark: Survival Ascended, the remake of Studio Wildcard’s highly popular Ark: Survival Evolved, saw its early access PC release on October 25, 2023. As expected, the game came with a lot of issues, but despite all that, ASA hasn’t seen any major drop in the player count. In fact, at the time of writing, Ark: Survival Ascended had a 24-hour peak player count of about 81K players (data sourced from SteamDB). Now, we can chalk it up to it simply being an effect of the honeymoon phase, but Studio Wildcard does have a pretty loyal fanbase. And many in that fanbase are curious about Ark Survival Ascended’s PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch release date. So, if you too are interested in knowing the same, continue reading.
Ark: Survival Evolved was available pretty much on every console and even on mobile devices. So, players are hopeful that Ascended will see its release on consoles too. While a mobile port is obliviously out of the picture, it’s the console ports that players are hopeful about. So, when is the console version releasing? More details are shared below.
Ark Survival Ascended (ASA) PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, & Nintendo Switch Release Date: When is it coming out
Confirmed Releases
Ark: Survival Ascended is indeed confirmed to get a console release. However, the console ports are only for the current generation of consoles, i.e., PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. While Studio Wildcard hasn’t given any solid dates, we do know that both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will be launching sometime in November 2023. Originally, the console version was supposed to launch with the PC version of the game, but the dev team soon identified major issues with the multiplayer, resulting in the console version delay. Nevertheless, current-generation console players can expect a release soon enough. But what about previous-generation consoles?
PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch release?
It’s safe to say that Ark Survival Ascended will not see a release on any of the previous-gen consoles including PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The hefty system requirements of the game are just too much for these consoles to handle. Especially the Nintendo Switch, which in itself is more or less at the end of its life cycle. You also have to look at the feasibility of developing the game for such underpowered consoles. Making a multi-platform game in itself is not an easy task, and considering the resources it would take to develop one, when the studio is highly focused on Ark II and ironing out ASA, it’s easy to see why Studio Wildcard decided to move away from the idea of releasing ASA on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. That being said, if you are hopeful of playing the game on your previous-gen console, it is time to give up on that thought.
