Fate/Grand Order is a free-to-play Japanese mobile game, developed by Delightworks using Unity, and published by Aniplex which is a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan. The game has been a major success all over the world grossing over $4 billion USD by the end of 2019.
The game has got quite a history, it was originally being developed by Kinoku Nasu as a online multiplayer game, but was shelved and cancelled during the planning stage. After some time, the concepts of the game were integrated into a story and turned into a novel called Fate/Apocrypha. In 2014, Aniplex proposed Nasu to go back to developing the game and the company partnered with DelightWork game studio to release Fate/Grand Order as a RPG mobile game.
The story of the Fate/Grand Order revolves around the player who takes the role of a ‘Master’. He summons and commands his warriors who are called ‘Servants’. Each of the servant has their own story which the user can explore. The ‘Master’ commands a team of 6 servants. 3 servants are active and 3 are reserved. Servants are obtained via a gacha Mechanic Saint Quartz which is an in-game currency. The currency is earned by playing the game and completing objectives or can be bought through in-app purchases. The ‘Master’ gets a total of 5 command cards of which, he can use three to attack. There are three types of attacks- Buster (a heavy attack), Arts (a medium attack) and Light (a light attack). These three cards if used together, give the ‘Master’ a boost in his card properties.
Some servants can be summoned easily as they are common, but some of them are very rare to find. There’s also another in-game currency called the ‘Friend Points’. These can be acquired more easily but through these the user can only acquire common servants. If you have summoned the same type of servant multiple times, their power also increases.
