Set NAT-Type to Open
You have to make sure that the internet connection you are using has an open NAT type. For this, you will have to log in to your ISP’s gateway using your login credentials and then set the NAT type to Open. Once done, check whether you can play co-op with your friend now.
Version Mismatch
You won’t be able to play co-op with a player who has a different game version. This disparity often happens when a game update goes live. If you have updated the game and your friend hasn’t, you both can’t play together. So, you will have to manually verify the integrity of game files via Steam (Steam>Library>Fantasy Life i (right-click)>Properties>Installed Files>Verify Integrity of Game Files). Ask the player you want to play co-op to do the same. Once done, check whether the issue persists.
Change Download Region
Another workaround that did fix the issue for a player is to change the Steam Download Region to match your friends’ or vice versa. You can do this by going to Steam>Settings>Download tab>Download Region. Once changed, you can then try searching for your friend in-game in the co-op lobby.
Turn Off Cross-play
Disable cross-play via the in-game settings menu and then check again whether you are able to find your friend. If not, switch hosts. If your friend was creating the co-op lobby, try creating a new one and ask them to join.
Switch connection
Maybe this is an internet connection-related issue. So, what you can do is try switching networks and then check if the issue persists.
Disable VPN
If you are using a VPN, make sure to disable it before creating a co-op room or before joining one.
For now, these are the workarounds we suggest you try to fix the unable-to-play co-op issue in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. We hope that you find this guide informative. If you did, consider visiting DigiStatement for more such interesting reads on all things gaming.
