Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 TweakDB error

Much to the fans’ delight, a brand new expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty, was released on September 26, 2023. With it, a major patch update 2.0 was also rolled out for the game across different platforms. While this Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update has offered the fans a bunch of new content and features to explore, it hasn’t been all shiny for most parts. As it turns out, the patch update has caused the game to be extremely buggy, and players are running into several errors time and time again. One such error that’s troubling the players in Cyberpunk 2077 is the TweakDB error. If you’ve faced the same error in the game, then don’t worry. Consider reading until the end to find out how to fix this issue.

If you’re playing Cyberpunk 2077 right now, it’s likely that you’ve come across the TweakDB error. This issue is triggered by multiple factors, one of which is if the TweakDB file is corrupted or isn’t present in the right directory. However, as complex as the error may sound, there are a bunch of workarounds to fix it. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at how to solve this problem in the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 TweakDB Error: How to Fix?

Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 TweakDB error

If you’re facing this particular problem in Cyberpunk 2077 after the Phantom Liberty expansion release, refer to the workarounds mentioned below and check which one works for you.

Move the tweakdb.bin and tweakdb_ep1.bin files

In order to fix this issue, you need to save the tweakdb.bin and the tweakdb_ep1.bin files in the correct folders. You can locate these files in the following directory: “game’s installation directory\Cyberpunk 2077\r6\cache”. Copy the files from this directory, and paste them to the “Cyberpunk 2077\r6\cache\modded” subfolder. If the modded folder is not present, create it, and then copy-paste the files. Then run the game and check if the issue persists.

Restart your device

If the previous workaround doesn’t work, then try restarting the game once and checking if it runs properly. If not, then turn your PC off, wait for a while, and then turn it back on. Re-launch the game and see if the error still occurs.

Verify game files

If the issue keeps occurring, it may as well be because you have a corrupt or missing game file. You can fix this by running a file integrity check.

For Steam users:

  • Go to Steam and open your Library.
  • Find Cyberpunk 2077 from the list of games, and make a right-click.
  • From the context menu, click on Properties.
  • Go to the Installed Files tab, and select the “Verify integrity of game files” option.
  • Let Steam complete the process. Then run the game and see if the issue persists.

For Epic Games users:

  • Launch the Epic Games client and go to Library.
  • Locate Cyberpunk 2077 and click on the three-dot icon.
  • From the context menu, click on Manage.
  • Now, select the “Verify” option, and the client will run the verification check.
  • Once the process is complete, run the game and see if you’re still encountering the error.

For GOG Users:

  • Launch the GOG Galaxy Launcher and head to the Owned Games tab.
  • Here, find and right-click on Cyberpunk 2077, then click on Manage Installation> Verify/Repair.

Run the game as an administrator

If you keep facing the TweakDB error, then you can try running the game as an administrator so that it has access to all the required permissions to run smoothly. Follow the given steps for the same:

  • Go to the game installation directory and make a right-click on the executable file of Cyberpunk 2077.
  • From the context menu, click on Properties and then go to the Compatibility tab.
  • Checkmark the “Run this program as an administrator” option.
  • Launch the game and see if it works.

Delete the mod files

If you’re facing this issue after you’ve downloaded or installed mods, then erasing the mods will be a wise decision. To delete the mods, follow these steps:

  • Open the game’s installation folder. You can do this by accessing the Browse local files option from your game launcher (Steam/Epic Games Launcher/GOG).
  • Once in the Cyberpunk 2077 folder, open the Archive subfolder.
  • Go to the subfolder named PC, and then open the Mods subfolder.
  • Here, you’ll find all the mod files. Erase these files, launch the game, and see if it works properly.

Update your GPU drivers

You also need to ensure that your graphics driver is up-to-date if you want to avoid this error and a bunch of other issues in Cyberpunk 2077. To update GPU drivers,

  • Press the Windows + X keys together to open the Quick Link Menu.
  • Open Device Manager, and go to Display Adapters.
  • Locate the dedicated GPU driver that you’re using and right-click on it.
  • Click on the Update Driver option and then select the “Search automatically for drivers” option.
  • Once the drivers are updated and downloaded, run the game and see if it’s working.
  • You can also visit the official website of your GPU’s manufacturer to get the latest GPU drivers available.

Reinstall the game

Lastly, if nothing works for you, then simply uninstall the game first. Then reinstall it again, run it, and see if you still receive the error.

So, these are the potential fixes for the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 TweakDB error. Hopefully, we were able to help you with the problem. For more such gaming-related content, keep visiting DigiStatement!
