Check if your DirectX version is updated

  • Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run Command Box. Here, type dxdiag and hit enter.
  • Double-click on the first result, and you’ll be able to find the DirectX version that you’re currently using. Check and make sure that it’s DirectX 12.
  • If you don’t have DirectX 12, return to your desktop screen and then press the Windows+ I keys together to open the Windows Settings Window.
  • Click on Update & Security, and then select Windows Update from the tab on the left-hand side.
  • Click on Check for Updates. This will prompt Windows to run a check and install all possible updates, including the DirectX version.
  • Simply follow the on-screen instructions to install the updates.
  • Restart your PC, launch Payday 3 and check if the issue persists.
  • You can also manually download and install the DirectX updates from the official Microsoft website.
