How to Swim in Starfield

With Bethesda Game Studios’ latest RPG title, Starfield, coming out on September 6, 2023, fans are gearing up for a captivating gaming experience. The anticipation surrounding this unique game has been quite high, and a number of fans have already started playing the game on Early Access by purchasing the Premium Edition. In all fairness, we’ve had a number of RPG games come out in 2023. However, Starfield’s space exploration theme really makes it stand out from the rest. As players start delving deeper into the unique gaming experience offered by this magnificent title from Bethesda, they’re trying to figure out how to complete different in-game tasks and actions. If you’re playing Starfield, then you may have noticed a number of water bodies on different planets. But can you actually traverse these water bodies by swimming? Continue reading to find out how to swim in Starfield.

If you’re a fan of space exploration RPG games, then you’re definitely going to enjoy Starfield. With the game featuring a vast open-world map with different planetary systems, players have the ability to enjoy it as they please. All these planets have their own unique environmental characteristics and varied landscapes. This is exactly what makes the “exploration” part of Starfield a highly coveted one. So, what happens if you take your spaceship and land on a planet that mostly consists of water bodies? Of course, this would require you to swim, but does the game allow this action? Let’s find out.

How to Swim in Starfield?

How to Swim in Starfield

You might already know that performing different tasks and actions in the game requires players to unlock specific skills. This has raised a little confusion among the fans over how to manage their gameplay and how to unlock different skills. Due to this, many are also wondering about the process of swimming in the game. So, which skill do you need to unlock swimming? Or is swimming a skill-free action?

Do you have to unlock a skill to swim?

Well, unlike most actions in the game, you don’t actually need a specific skill to swim in Starfield. All you need to do is get inside the water body and submerge yourself. The in-game controls for swimming are similar to those for walking. However, one thing that you’ll notice is that your speed will decrease significantly while you’re trying to swim in the game, for obvious reasons.

How to explore the underwater world?

Now that you know that you can indeed swim in Starfield, the next thing you might wonder is whether you can explore the underwater world by diving into the water bodies. Well, the answer to this is no; you cannot. Despite all the great gameplay features, something that the developers haven’t added to the game is an underwater environment and diving. However, as the game keeps growing, they might add this feature in future updates, but we can’t be sure. This is simply speculation, so take this information with a pinch of salt. Also, don’t forget about mods. After the game’s official release, an underwater mod is something that won’t take too long to go live.

Anyway, this is all that you need to know about how to swim in Starfield. Hopefully, you’ll find this article helpful. If you want to read more such gaming-related content, stay tuned to DigiStatement.
