Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3) Iron Flask How to get, find, & use

In this section, we have discussed the way to obtain the Iron Flask and the number of ways by which you can use it. So, consider reading until the end.

How to Get the Iron Flask?

Head north along the Risen Road until you reach a cave located at coordinates X:36, Y:626. This cave holds the key to unlocking the powerful Iron Flask. But that’s not all—this cave is also a hotspot for the “Find the Missing Shipment” sidequest. Inside, you’ll meet two characters named Rugan and Olly, who are seeking refuge from the menacing Gnolls. Prepare for a challenge, though, as you’ll need to tackle those Gnolls head-on before you can proceed. After you’ve dealt with them, the real test begins. Engage in some thoughtful dialogue with Rugan. Keep in mind that this is a critical moment for securing the Iron Flask, therefore, navigate the conversation wisely to earn your prize.

But hey, there’s another path if you’re feeling less diplomatic. If talking is not your style, you can choose to engage Rugan and Olly in combat. A word of caution: this won’t be an easy fight, and it might leave you with no other choice but to eliminate them both. But if that’s your path, be ready for a tough battle. Once you’ve seized control of the situation, that locked chest inside the cave is finally yours to open. And within it, you’ll uncover the coveted Iron Flask, a potent item with potential beyond measure.

How to use the Iron Flask?

  • Spectator: If you open the Iron Flask, a Level 5 Spectator will be released. You can defeat this creature for massive exp, but remember that no extra loot or rewards will be dropped for doing so.
  • Give it to Zarys: The next thing you can do with the flask is have it delivered to Zarys. She is located in the Zhentarim hideout at Waukeen’s Rest. The key thing here is to ensure the flask remains unopened within the chest. So, if you manage to get this Iron Flask to Zarys without opening the chest, she will reward you with a crossbow named “Harold”. Along with it, the merchant at the hideout will have some interesting things to sell as well.
  • Use it in battles: Lastly, you can use the Iron Flask against enemies. Remember the Spectator that the flask holds? Well, throwing the Iron Flask at enemies deals some damage, and it also summons the Spectator creature into the fray, causing the enemies to engage with it.
