Released on May 12th, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the latest big-budget game from Nintendo. As a sequel to 2017’s Breath of the Wild, the game received high praise, and that’s not surprising. Tears of the Kingdom has more than exceeded the expectations of both critics and fans, all thanks to the amount of work both Nintendo EDP and Monolith Soft put into the game. This time, there’s more to explore and a gargantuan amount of stuff to do. While the developers did reuse lots of assets from their previous games, they also introduced a ton of new stuff. Like the Sundelion.
The local flora and fauna play a huge role in both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Just like in real life, there are some plants and animals that can only be found in an exclusive place and nowhere else. This adds to the “realism” aspect of the game from a story perspective. Well, Nintendo hasn’t shied away from introducing new flora and fauna to the game. Sundelion is one of them. So, where can you find this plant? Let’s find out!!
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (ToTK) Sundelion: How To Get & Find
As we explained earlier, the Sundelion is an entirely new plant in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It is officially described as – “A wild plant that grows in the sun at high altitudes. Soaked in sunlight, its petals can restore health depleted by gloom when used in cooking.” This description paints a pretty clear picture of where you can find the plant.
Since it grows more in high-altitude areas, you will be able to acquire these in the Sky Islands more rather than in places like Eldin Canyon and Hyrule Field (according to the Hyrule Compendium, these two places are the best to find the plant). Here are some coordinates where you will be able to get a good number of these plants – (1833, -1356, 0924), (1879, -0972, 0961), (1922, -1182, 0776). Do note that these are all Sky Island locations, so don’t forget to unlock the nearest Skyview Tower.
The Sundelion plant can be used with most other cooking ingredients. Furthermore, they can also make meals that will help you heal from gloom. Do note that, like most plants, the Sundelions will take some time to respawn after you get them. These plants are also required for upgrading some armor in the game. The Stealth Armor set and Champion’s Leathers need Sundelions to upgrade them further.
All in all, the Sundelion plant is a great resource for exploring the dangerous Depths. Be sure to gather a bunch of them and cook an ample amount of meals using them so that you can quickly recover your lost hearts when under the gloom debuff.
