Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (ToTK): Can you avoid Lightning

Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now released, and fans are in love with the game. The anticipation for this game does stem from an emotional roller-coaster, as Nintendo made us wait six years before we had this perfect sequel to Zelda Breath of the Wild, but there’s more than meets the eye. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has indeed done a great job complementing its prequel, but it has done so in a new and refreshing way. We cannot help but adore the amount of work Nintendo has put into developing this game. And this reflects in the new game mechanics they have introduced in ToTK, where you can now fuse different items to give them new properties and usability.

Back in BoTW, players could travel around Hyrule by using their shields as sleds. If you’re a fan of shield surfing, then Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom actually has more to offer on this front. Now, with the new fusing ability that Link possesses, you can fuse a shield with a minecart and get a, well hold your breath, a fully functional skateboard. You can now ride on this skateboard to travel through the landscape of Hyrule instead of shield surfing. And with new features, like the rails added to the landscape, skateboarding is even more fun and exciting for the fans. While it’s not really the easiest option to travel on the rails, skateboarding still adds a lot more adventure to the game and we are in love with this new feature.

How to get the skateboard in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

One thing that sets Tears of the Kingdom apart is the fairly easy controls and gameplay that it has to offer. Just like the multiple other activities in the game, getting a skateboard is simple. You need only two things: A shield, and a Minecart. Remember, the fusing ability only works with items that are present in the open world, and not in your inventory. Once you have both of these items at your disposal, equip your shield and walk up to the minecart. You should have your fusing ability active by this time, so simply point at the minecart while holding the shield and press LT on your controller to combine the two items. And just like that, you have now built yourself a skateboard to travel across the landscapes.

Since the minecarts are equipped with wheels, skateboarding is actually a faster means of traveling compared to shield surfing. On top of this, your shield doesn’t deteriorate much if you’re using it for the skateboard. You can shield surf or ride your skateboard in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom by pressing the LT, X, and A buttons on your Nintendo Joycon controller at the same time. You can try the same on rails, and this will make Link adjust on the skateboard in perfect balance and grind on the tracks. Sounds cool, right? We think the same, and fans around the world are actually in love with this unique feature in ToTK.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a fan-pleaser, and Tears of the Kingdom isn’t really lagging behind in that aspect. With the well-deserved excitement around the game, stay tuned to DigiStatement to receive more articles on the same.
