The term “Strange” in Team Fortress 2 simply refers to the quality of different items in the game. Likewise, it is a quality that is available for a variety of weapons, cosmetics, as well as taunts in the game. Strange items such as a Strange weapon can track a player’s kill as well as other events and record them as an item attribute. This means that the count becomes available to view for all players. Similarly, a Strange cosmetic item can also count a player’s kill as well as events while wearing it.

The increase of the counter in any of the Strange items also gives them a new rank. Likewise, a player obtaining a new rank on a strange item is a big deal. Therefore, an announcement message shows up in the chat regarding this to all the players on a server.

How to unlock strange items in the game –

  1. You can unlock a strange item by unlocking a Mann Co. Supply Crate.
  2. Players can also change an item into a strange item by using a Strangifier.
  3. A player can also purchase a Strange item from the Steam Community Market.
  4. Players can also earn Botkiller weapons as well as Australium weapons from the Mann Up mode.
  5. Players can also trade with other players to obtain a Strange item.
