If you’ve gotten your hands on this game recently, then you’ve probably noticed a character ability named Dexterity. Well, in this article, we’re going to discuss what dexterity means in Baldur’s Gate 3. So, continue reading to find out!
Different games use different metrics and stats to showcase what an in-game character can do. In Baldur’s Gate 3, these character attributes are termed abilities. The game includes different abilities for characters, which are strength, constitution, wisdom, intelligence, charisma, and dexterity. Now, all these different abilities cater to different skills and stat boosts that the players will find useful in the game. So, with that being said, let us now take a look at what this ability actually means in the game and how you can use it to your own benefit.
What Does Dexterity Mean in Baldur’s Gate 3?
As we’ve said already, different character abilities are suited to different skills and stat buffs. Dexterity, in this case, focuses on how agile a character is. There are three major skills that fall under this unique ability in the game. These are:
- Acrobatics: Acrobatics refers to how well the characters can balance themselves and stay on their feet.
- Sleight of Hand: This skill is associated with how nimble the characters are with their fingers. Be it stealing an item or planting an item on someone, this skill set always comes in handy.
- Stealth: Finally, stealth refers to how well the characters can hide themselves from their enemies. Be it hiding in the shadows or sneaking up on an enemy, this skill proves useful in all tricky situations.
Now, you also need to understand that different character classes in the game have different primary and secondary abilities. If you want to focus on dexterity, then you have to choose the Rogue class, for whom this is the primary ability. Otherwise, Monks, Rangers, and Fighter characters have this ability included as their secondary stat.
Boosts and Skill Buffs
A dexterity check can offer three different benefits to the players. These come in terms of Armor Class (AC), Weapon Usage, and Initiative Roll.
- Armor Class: Armor Class is a stat that refers to how much damage you can avoid in the game. If your dexterity check ranks high, your AC will be high, and eventually, you’ll avoid being wounded during battles.
- Weapon Usage: If you’re using ranged weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3, adding the Dexterity Modifier will improve the offensive stats. Furthermore, you can add the Dexterity Modifier to finesse weapons. This will prompt the weapons to use dexterity instead of strength.
- Initiative Roll: Initiative Roll determines the turn order of the battling creatures during combat. Having high dexterity will mean that you’ll receive a high initiative bonus during the battle.
