War Mongrels has made a good name for itself within just a week of its release. It is addictive, captivating, graphically promising, and a lot more. Yeah, there are a lot of positives.

But in the negatives, there have been a lot of issues that the players are currently reporting. The game has quite a lot of these bizarre bugs and glitches. And some of these are somewhat really irritating.

We have heard a lot about games crashing, not launching, black screen, etc. And here is another one. A lot of players report that when they launch the game, they end up with a simple pop-up saying something about missing executable file errors.

War Mongrels missing executable file error

This might be something new as a problem, but we have got you covered. Here is what you need to do when you have this type of issue –

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR RIG UPDATED

Never try to play any game on an outdated PC. When you are going to launch a game on your PC, always make sure that you have an updated system. This is because an outdated system on PCs caused two major issues.

First, the game will have difficulties in launching and will crash. Second, the outdated system will not be able to execute the game files, which will lead to the issue we are talking about – missing executable file error.

VERIFY THE INTEGRITY OF THE GAME

This is one of the major reasons why we find issues like game crashes, black screens, files missing, etc. It happens most often that due to some reasons, the game files either get deleted automatically or get corrupted. When you have the game files missing or corrupted, you can’t expect the game to run or even launch normally.

If you have any game issues, make sure to verify the integrity of the game files. Follow the below steps to do so –

  • Open Steam application.
  • Go to the Library section.
  • Right-click on the game War Mongrels and select Properties from the menu.
  • Select the Local Files tab and click on the Verify Integrity of the game files button.
  • Steam will verify the game’s files. This process may take several minutes. This will always download a number of files even if you’ve just verified.
  • Once everything is done, close the window and launch the game.

  • Open Steam and select Run as Administrator.
  • Up next, click Steam at the top of the window to expand the menu.
  • Select Settings.
  • Click Downloads on the left of the Settings window.
  • Then, press the Clear Download Cache button.
  • A confirmation window will open, click on OK.
  • Select OK on the Settings window as well.
  • Restart Steam to keep the changes.

TURN OFF YOUR ANTIVIRUS

Antiviruses on your PC can be a hindrance in the successful launching of the game of War Mongrels. Yes, it is true. Most of the antiviruses either detect the game’s .exe files as false positives or mark them as quarantine or delete them.

This leads to games not working properly. To solve this issue, you can turn off the antivirus software while playing. As an alternative, you can add the game’s .exe files to the exception folder or the whitelist of the antivirus software.
