Pandora is a subscription-based music streaming service and it is owned by Sirius XM Holdings. The service puts focus on recommendations based on ‘Music Genome Project’ which is a means to classify songs through musical traits. The service was initially launched at the consumer market as an internet radio service that will generate personalized channels on the basis of the traits and songs liked by the user. The service also released Pandora Premium in the year 2017 which is an on-demand version of the service more in line with contemporary competitors.
It was originally founded in the year 2000 as Savage Beast Technologies and normally conceived as business-to-business company licensing Music Genome Project for retailers in the form of a recommendation platform. The company started to put more importance to consumer market in the year 2005 by introducing Pandora as an internet radio product. The basic features of Pandora can be accessed for free and it includes advertisements and limitations but the bonus features like enhanced streaming quality, music downloads and offline channels are provided through paid subscriptions.
The service has around 63.5 million active monthly users and 6.2 million subscribers since the year 2019. Pandora was acquired by Sirius XM Holdings for $3.5 billion in stock in the year 2019. It is available on Android, iOS, Apple Watch and Wear OS smartwatches. Voice control has also been included in the mobile apps in January 2019.
However, users have came up with various complaints related to the service of Pandora music. Users said that every time they try to play something on Pandora, the app says that it is unable to play. They also said that although the app cannot play music when such error occurs, it runs fully functioning advertisements. A user said that he was playing music for around 20 minutes and suddenly the playing stopped along with the message saying ‘unable to play’. You might think that these are the reports of those who are not a Premium user but even the users of Pandora Premium have complained about similar issue. However, if you are also experiencing the same problem, all you need to do is delete and reinstall Pandora. Simply follow these steps –
- Go to ‘Settings’.
- Select ‘Services & Voice’.
- Choose ‘Pandora’.
- Select ‘Remove Account’.
- Go back to ‘Music & Content’.
- Select ‘Add a Service’ to add Pandora again.
