After Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1, fighting game fans can finally get to enjoy Tekken 8. Released on January 26, 2024, the game has once again shown just how influential and incredible the Tekken series is. Tekken 8 was released to wide appreciation from both critics and fans, with some even considering it better than Tekken 7. Although Tekken 8 has over 30+ characters in the base game alone, it seems like many aren’t just satisfied with that and want to know when the dev team is planning to release guest characters.
Guest characters in fighting games are nothing new. Just back in 2023, Mortal Kombat 1 announced a number of guest characters like Homelander, Omni Man, and Peacemaker. Tekken 7 too had a few guest characters in it. And so, with Tekken 8 finally here, it’s only evident that fans would want to know when and who is going to be released as a guest character in the game. So, without much further ado, let’s go ahead and find out!!
Tekken 8 guest characters potential list & Release Date
As of now, no guest characters have been announced so far for Tekken 8. Back in July 2023, a Twitter user asked Bandai Namco’s Game Director and Chief Producer of Action/Fighting Games, Katsuhiro Harada, about how many guest characters the devs were planning on having in Tekken 8. The following is what Harada replied:
“We do not plan to develop guest characters first. First of all, we are concentrating on “having more early Roasters” than other fighting game titles(In other words, increase the initial number of default characters). Even if we think about guest characters, it will be after the release.”
Now we don’t really know when the devs will start releasing guest characters in Tekken 8. So far, all we know is that Eddy Gordo will be joining Tekken 8 as a DLC character, with three more characters releasing alongside him.
Although we might not have an official guest list right now, there are some iconic characters that players really want in Tekken 8. The following is a list of these characters that could also potentially be released later on:
- Akuma (Street Fighter series)
- Tifa (Final Fantasy VII)
- Kiryu (Yakuza series)
- Chun-Li (Street Fighter series)
- Goro Majima (Yakuza series)
- Baki (Baki series)
- Shermie (King of Fighters)
- Noctis (Final Fantasy XV)
- 2B (Nier Automata)
Note that some of them have been guest characters before in Tekken 7, so seeing them again in Tekken 8 could also be a possibility. But, at the end of the day, nothing has been confirmed so far, so players will have to take this particular list with a huge grain of salt. Now, if we do get any information on Tekken 8’s guest characters, we will be sure to let our readers know all about that. Until then, enjoy the game.
