Everyone’s second favourite gaming billionaire, Gabe Newell has confirmed that there are new updates coming to Team Fortress 2!
After years of letting this game rot neglected on the sidelines, Valve seems to have finally come to their senses. TF2 has an absolutely massive player base even 14 years after its original launch. Other games that have lasted this long only managed to do so with frequent updates, changes, additions, and balancing from their loving developers. Not Team Fortress 2, though. Since October 2017’s Jungle Inferno update, there have been literally zero new updates to the game. Obviously what everyone thought would happen, did happen. TF2 is now overrun with hackers, bots, and cheats. In fact, I’m willing to wager that it might just be the most compromised game that is still very much popular right now.
Well, let’s take a look at what exactly Gabe has come out and said. Four years after the last update to Team Fortress 2, Gabe said these words: “We have new updates for Team Fortress 2”. But wait. It gets better. He also said, “We have a solution for the bot crisis”. I understand if as a TF2 fan, the first thought crossing your mind is: there is no way this is real, this has to be fake, right? Well, see for yourself.
Unfortunately, the full interview video keeps getting taken down. We may never know what other bombshells he dropped during this interview, so till more news breaks about this potential update(s), we just need to bide our time and stay realistic!
Let us all hope that this update will finally clean up the game we all adore and skyrocket it to the heights of the E-Sports world. Could the day we see TF2 at the IEM be so close? Well, there goes our “be realistic” advice.
