If Arthurian legends are your thing, then you should definitely give Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon a try. Inspired by the same, the game’s full release was seen on May 23, 2025. Similar to the reception in its early access days, the full release also received the same love. As of writing this, over 10K players are playing the game, and that’s on Steam alone. That said, if you have recently downloaded the game or have played a few hours only to realize that you have no idea where the game saves your progress on your PC, this is just the guide you need. Here, we have shared everything there is to know about the same.
Being an open-world RPG, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon will keep you immersed in its dark fantasy realm long enough that you will eventually lose track of time. The game’s story, its scenes, and customizable gameplay that supports countless builds that can be altered at will—all these are enough to keep you hooked. But what if, after an intense session, you quit the game, only to return and find out that the progress you made is no longer available? This can happen to you if you are not careful. Yes, the game supports Steam Cloud, but there have been cases where the corrupted saves stored on a PC have been synced to the cloud, rendering the cloud save corrupt too. So, don’t think that Steam Cloud Saves can safeguard your progress. It’s only you who can do it, manually. But for that, you will have to know where the game saves its progress.

Whether you want to back up your progress, transfer it to a different system, or just delete it to start fresh, knowing the save file location of the game can come in handy. So, how to find it?
First, open File Explorer on your PC and then go to the C drive. Here, open the Users folder and then the folder with your username. Now, find the AppData folder. This folder is hidden by default. If you are unable to find it, click on the View button and select Show>Hidden. After this, the AppData folder should appear. Head inside it and then open the LocalLow folder. Inside it, open the Questline folder. Here, head inside the Fall of Avalon folder, followed by a folder with some numbers as its name. Inside it, you should find the Saved folder. This is where all your save game files of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon are located.
Note: All the progress you’ve made in the game’s Early Access phase is completely wiped out with the v1.0 release. So, if you have been playing the game since its EA days, you will have to start from scratch again.
