Vector3 Studio’s Sunkenland was finally made available as an early access title on August 26, 2023, via Steam. It is the newest addition to the ever-increasing survival genre of games, and only time will tell if it manages to stand out in such a crowded market. Set in a world where most of Earth is now covered in water, players will need to do their best to survive in this harsh environment. From diving deep to get resources and seek lost technologies to building and defending their base from raiders, players will get to do a ton of fun stuff in Sunkenland. However, surviving isn’t an easy task in the game, especially when you keep losing your health regularly. That’s why it’s important to know how to kill sharks or heal in the game.
Healing is to survival games like farming is to farm sims. It’s hard to imagine survival games without any kind of healing at this point. After all, how are you going to survive in a survival game when you don’t even have any way to recover your health? In Sunkenland, you will encounter dangerous situations frequently, and as such, it’s imperative that you learn how to heal.
Sunkenland: How to heal
The game gives you several options when it comes to healing. However, one thing that we have seen a lot of people do is mistakenly use bandages to recover health. Contrary to other survival games, bandages in Sunkenland don’t heal or increase health. They are there only to stop the bleeding effect. Nothing more, nothing less. So, how do you heal, then?
Antibiotics
Well, the first thing that should come to mind when talking about healing in Sunkenland is antibiotics. These are most players’ go-to health recovery items in the game. So, whenever you come across one, get it and save it for dangerous situations. Players can get antibiotics regularly from the trader as well.
Red Algae
Red Algae is another excellent alternative. However, the one bad thing about this item is that it is pretty rare. Now, if you do manage to gather some red algae, go ahead and craft them into health potions. You can even consume it right away if you don’t have time to cook it, since it counts as food in the game. Red Algae is exclusively found underwater, so try diving as much as possible to find more.
Eat plenty of Food
Like every other survival and non-survival game, eating food also replenishes your health in Sunkenland. Go grab your fish nets and start catching fish right away. If you want, you can kill sharks, but when you have caught a comfortable amount of fish, start grilling them. The resulting cooked food will recover somewhere between 30-40 health. Do note that catching fish and cooking them isn’t the only way to get food. You can also plant and eat plant food in your planters or simply get food cans from the trader.
Sleep
Lastly, go to sleep frequently. Sleeping also replenishes your health, albeit less so compared to antibiotics and health potions. But when you don’t have any other ways to recover your health and find yourself in a pinch, sleeping will always be there to save you. Additionally, if you find yourself losing health a lot or dying frequently, we highly suggest you lower the difficulty settings for a better gaming experience.
