Strongest pokemon in Pokemon Go (2024)

Strongest pokemon in Pokemon Go (2024)

Over the years, Pokemon Go has seen the release of over 800+ Pokemon. So, it’s only understandable that players would want to know who’s the strongest Pokemon in the game. And that’s certainly something difficult to know about if you are trying to look for it by yourself. That’s why guides like this one exist.

With the advent of a new year, more Pokemon are sure to be introduced into the game. So, it’s quite possible that the information provided here might see some changes in the upcoming months. However, it all depends on just how powerful a new Pokemon turns out to be. But for now, this guide will introduce you to the best and strongest Pokemon in Pokemon Go.

Strongest pokemon in Pokemon Go (2024)

Strongest pokemon in Pokemon Go (2024)

It’s hard to define the word strongest in Pokemon Go, and as a result, it’s difficult to refer to a sole Pokemon as the strongest in the game. But why is it so? Well, because the word strongest can mean a lot of things here. Is the Pokemon strongest because it has the highest attack stat or is it due to the Pokemon possessing the highest CP? But then, some Pokemon are great in PvP, while others shine in PvE. So, how are we going to define who’s the strongest Pokemon in Pokemon Go? Well, for that, we will talk about some of the best Pokemon in the game first and then share our thoughts on who can be considered the strongest.

Slaking [Normal]
  • Max CP: 5010
  • Attack: 290
  • Defense: 166
  • Stamina: 284

The reason Slaking is here is because of its impressive stats. In fact, currently, it can be regarded as the “strongest” Pokemon in the game if one were to go by stats alone. That massive 5010 CP happens to be the highest in Pokemon Go right now, making it quite a tough Pokemon to go against. And while it’s got some amazing stats to boast about, it’s Slaking’s abilities that are holding it back. Slaking has only one fast move: Yawn, and that deals piss-poor damage against enemies. The only other moves that are somewhat useful are the two Charge Moves – Play Rough and Body Slam. All in all, Slaking is great if you are going against a casual player and such. It can be used defensively to soak up damage, thanks to its gargantuan CP. But aside from this, there’s nothing much to write home about.

Mewtwo [Psychic]
  • Max CP: 4724
  • Attack: 300
  • Defense: 182
  • Stamina: 214

While Mewtwo might not have a high CP like Slaking, it more than makes up for it by possessing some of the best movesets. In fact, you could say that at the time of its launch, Mewtwo was objectively the strongest Pokemon in the game. But like any other live-service game, power creep eventually caught up to Mewtwo. However, that doesn’t mean it’s gone down in value. Mewtwo still outshines a lot of Pokemon thanks to its moves. With Confusion and Psystrike combined, a player can effectively deal with most Pokemon in the game. That’s not all, though. Psycho Cut is also another great move that, while offering low damage compared to Confusion and Psystrike, makes dodging easier. A great Pokemon that doesn’t disappoint. And once you get a Shadow Mewtwo, the Pokemon gets even scarier.

Rayquaza [Dragon & Flying]
  • Max CP: 4336
  • Attack: 284
  • Defense: 170
  • Stamina: 213

Out of all the dragon-type Pokemon in the game, none come even close to dethroning Rayquaza as the best. With movesets like Dragon Tail & Breaking Swipe, or Dragon Tail & Dragon Ascent, Rayquaza easily demolishes its competition in Flying and Dragon types. While it’s particularly not great to use in Great or Ultra League, the Pokemon shines brightly in Master League. Evolve it into Mega Rayquaza and you will see just how absolutely brutal it is at demolishing its opponents.

Blissey
  • Max CP: 3117
  • Attack: 129
  • Defense: 169
  • Stamina: 496

Blissey is a particularly bad Pokemon when it comes to attacking. So, why is it here? Well, despite being bad at attacking, Blissey absolutely crushes the competition when it comes to defending. With a bonkers stamina of 496 and an ok defense of 169, it effectively becomes the queen of defense. Pound coupled with either Dazzling Glean or Hyper Beam, is great enough to serve as an immovable wall. Just don’t use it for attacking and you will see how potent it is for defending.

Who’s the “Strongest”?

Well, if you want a Pokemon who’s proficient in both attacking and defending, Mewtwo is a great choice. It’s essentially the jack of all trades. While there are certainly Pokemon that outshine it, all of them lack one thing or another. Mewtwo, on the other hand, thanks to its Shadow variant and great movesets, can work on many fronts, be it defending, raiding, or attacking. So, if you are yet to catch a Mewtwo, go ahead and start planning for it.

Well, that’s all the information we have on this topic. Additionally, if you want to know whether Buzzwole is good in Pokemon Go, take a look at this guide. And for more such content, keep following DigiStatement. Also read: What is a critical catch in Pokemon Go & what are its chances?
