There is no better way to introduce our game today than by saying “Game of the Year 2020 award nominee”. Streets of Rage 4 has been a fan favourite, rightfully so, leaving everyone at the edge of their seats for new DLC. But, will there be a DLC? Here’s what we know so far:
Streets of Rage 4
Streets of Rage 4 is an indie beat-em-up game. Developed by the giant efforts of Dotemu, LizardCube and Guard Crush Games, it carries forward the Streets of Rage legacy. Originally played on Sega, Streets of Rage saw it’s last title being released in early 1990s, after which the series was put on hold. That is until Streets of Rage 4 was announced in 2018, and much to everyone’s anticipation released in 2020. The game was a roaring success and famously won several accolades. The most notable awards being Best Indie Game 2020, which it lost against Hades. The game has reportedly sold over 1.5 million copies since it’s inception, which is a huge amount especially considering the game was an indie project. The game is available to play on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

The game is a clever concoction of an engaging storyline and nostalgia. The pacing is perfect and you will find yourself playing it over and over again. The characters are well developed, the combos are sick! The game also features amazing art style and a great background score. If you’ve played any of the games in the Streets of Rage series, you will not be let down by the latest addition.
Streets of Rage 4 DLC
Streets of Rage 4 gets completed relatively quickly. Though multiplayer is an option, fans have been craving DLC. The developers have often been asked about the same, and an update was reportedly in the pipeline in early 2020. The developers Dotemu released a tweet confirming the Streets of Rage 4 DLC, but also not putting a deadline on it. The developers didn’t want to rush the DLC in order to provide fitting content for the game, in accordance with the acclamation it received.

When facing enthusiastic fans regarding the same on Reddit, the developers said:
There are many questions about the potential DLC, so I’ll give an answer here: We have many ideas, and we really want to add more content in the future. But nothing has been decided yet, so we are listening to you and will let you know “what” and “when” soon 🙂
However, this was over 9 months ago, and there is no certain news regarding the updates ever since. Will 2021 see a much-awaited Streets of Rage 4 series? Only time will tell.
