With ten million players joining the call for a space adventure, Starfield is now a massive success for both Bethesda and Xbox. Despite being an entirely new IP, the game has achieved a significant following ever since its official release on September 6, 2023. Its success is also making RPG fans more and more excited for Bethesda’s next big project, The Elder Scrolls VI. But before we go on a tangent, let’s discuss some fixes for the “The Best There Is” quest bug in the game.
This particular quest is a faction quest related to Crimson Fleet and rewards you with about 9600 credits and 250 exp. upon completion. Now, coming to the topic of the bug affecting it, the major problem arises during the quest stage, where the player needs to speak with Naeva and Jazz (Jasmine) in order to get information and make a plan for stealing the ComSpike. Another bug makes the player unable to enter the Jade Swan ship because the ship itself is stacked on top of another ship. Lastly, there’s a third bug that makes the Jade Swan crew attack the player for no reason at all. So, is there a fix for all these bugs in the quest? Let’s find out!
Starfield The Best There Is Quest Bug: Is there any fix yet
As Bethesda is yet to release an official fix for the various bugs in this quest, we deem it would be best for you to follow the workarounds mentioned below for now. Try these and see if they provide any kind of meaningful results.
Talk to Huan Daiyu again –
One player was able to resolve the Jade Swan crew attacking bug by simply approaching the ship’s captain, Huan Daiyu, and engaging in a conversation with her once again. You will have to deselect and then reselect the mission to make this work. After that, the next time you board the Jade Swan, you will not be attacked anymore.
Board the ship at night –
Just in case the previous workaround doesn’t bear any fruit, try boarding the Jade Swan at night. This is certainly a strange workaround, but u/Mikester401 used this method to fix the bug, so this might work for you too.
Reload a previous save –
Sometimes, reloading one of your saves works when dealing with quest-related bugs in Starfield. If you are going to load a previous save, we suggest you load the one that’s closest to your current progress. This makes for a less backtracking session. This is also why we suggest our readers save often when it comes to single-player games.
Use console commands –
Players can use console commands to skip the talking to Naeva and Jasmine part of the quest, as stated here. But know that console players will not be able to use this and that those who can will get their achievements disabled for the current save.
- To open the console command, press the tilde key (~).
- Next, enter the following: “SetStage 0021d792 200“.
- You will now automatically skip the aforementioned part of the quest.
- In case you want to skip other parts of the quest, type: “sqs 0021d792” in the console command window, use the pg up and pg down keys to scroll through quest stage IDs, and then replace the quest stage ID as mentioned in the second step of this workaround.
Hail the Smuggler’s Stingray in Space –
In order to fix the Smuggler’s Stingray stacked on top of the Jade Swan ship bug, u/Grieva3 basically hailed the ship in space and then declined the offer to trade. Do the same, and the Stingray’s ship captain and his ship will be gone. You can also try the console command: SetStage 0021d792 39 to bypass this bug. Entering this command will teleport you to the cockpit of the ship (Jade Swan), thereby enabling you to progress further into the quest.
