The wait for Bethesda’s Starfield is finally coming to an end after all these long years. Slated for a Windows and Xbox Series X/S release this September 6, the game is one of the most anticipated releases of this year, along with the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Mortal Kombat 1, and many more. While the official release is just a few days away, Bethesda has made the game available via early access for players who bought the Premium Edition. These players are certainly enjoying their time flying and discovering new worlds in Starfield, but at the end of the day, it’s a Bethesda game. And that means having to suffer through a myriad of bugs and errors. While Starfield is somewhat less buggy than previous Bethesda titles, it still has issues such as the infinite loading screen and low GPU utilization that plague it. Among these, the “Graphics Card Does Not Meet The Minimal Specifications Requirements” issue is also a major one.
The problem is, as the name itself suggests. Players are unable to play the game due to getting this error message when they launch Starfield. It’s a frustrating hurdle that’s not doing any good for the game. What’s interesting is that even after having a GPU that is capable of running the game, the error still pops up. So, is there any fix? Let’s find out!
Starfield Graphics Card Does Not Meet The Minimal Specifications Requirements Issue: Is there any fix yet
Bethesda has yet to release an official fix for this issue. Due to this, players will need to deal with this issue by following the workarounds mentioned below.
Update your Windows OS –
It seems like, for many, updating their Windows pretty much resolved this issue. Now, when we talk about updating Windows, we specifically mean the 22H2 version. As of writing this guide, version 22H2 is the latest Windows update for both 10 and 11 variants. So, open your Windows Settings, head to Update & Security, and download the Windows 22H2 update for your PC. After the update is installed, restart the PC and then launch the game.
Check if your GPU even meets the minimum requirements for the game –
There’s a reason why developers post minimum requirements for their games. You will undoubtedly see this error if you are using a GPU that the game does not support. Here are the minimum requirements for Starfield. Take a good look at the GPU section, especially.
- OS: Windows 10 version 21H1 (10.0.19043)
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, Intel Core i7-6800K
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700, NVIDIA GeForce 1070 Ti
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 125 GB available space
- Additional Notes: SSD Required
Perform a clean installation of GPU drivers –
You can also try performing a clean installation of the graphics drivers. So, for this, go to the GPU manufacturer’s official website and get the latest available drivers from there. Next, choose the “Custom Installation” option in the installation options. Checkmark or choose the “Perform a clean installation” option and let the software do the rest of the job.
Ensure that your graphics card is enabled –
A simple reason behind this issue could be that your graphics card is disabled. To check or correct this mistake, type Device Manager in the Windows search bar and open it. Next, click on Display Drivers to expand it. Here, you will see both your integrated graphics card (only if your CPU has one) and the dedicated graphics card. Right-click on the dedicated graphics card, and you will see a plethora of options. If you see the “Enable device” sub-option below “Update driver”, then that means your graphics card was disabled. Just click on “Enable device” to make it start working.
Enable High-Performance Mode –
A valid cause could be that your system is preventing the game from using your dedicated GPU. Luckily, there’s a neat little way to deal with that. Type graphics settings in the Windows search bar and open the first result. Next, click on the “Add an app” button to add Starfield to the list below. If it’s already there, then there’s no need. Now, click on the Options button and checkmark “High performance”. After this, launch the game and check whether the issue persists.
