Cloud Imperium Games’ Star Citizen is about to complete yet another year of development, with no official release window in sight so far. This year will mark its 12th year of development, and that’s one of the longest development times in the video game industry. If this keeps up, then in some more years, it will surpass Duke Nukem Forever’s 14-year-long development. But for die-hard Star Citizen fans, these years don’t mean that much. Plus, it’s not like the game hasn’t added anything at all. While the game continues to be in the Alpha phase, CIG has been constantly adding content to it. But being in this phase also means having to deal with a buttload of bugs and errors. This guide, in particular, will deal with Error Code 60016, which many players have reported encountering.
When in effect, players will see the following message on their screen: “ERROR – Lobby Error (CODE 60016). Can’t join session because it is not available”. As you can guess, this is a connection issue. The problem here is that this error has seen a high resurgence these past few days, specifically after the release of the 3.21 Alpha update. So, is there a fix for this issue? Continue reading to find out!
Star Citizen Error Code 60016: Is there any fix yet
CIG is aware of this issue and has given out a fix of its own. So, try that along with some additional workarounds mentioned here, and see if you are able to get past the error code.
Select USA as your location/region –
This particular fix comes courtesy of u/N0SF3RATU. Essentially, what you will be doing is selecting USA as your location instead of choosing Best. That’s all you need to do. Once that’s done, start the game, and you will more than likely be able to enjoy Star Citizen once again.
Relogin –
One player got this issue fixed by simply logging back into the game. So, if you haven’t tried this one, do so. Just log out of the game first, and after a second or two, log back in. An update might start downloading, but it’s more likely it’s just verifying files. Now, if this one doesn’t get any meaningful results, try the next workaround.
Choose New Babbage as your home location –
Similar to the first workaround, for u/Pokehunter217, fixing this issue meant changing the home location to New Babbage. Although we won’t be diving deep into the steps on how to change home location in Star Citizen, know that it’s not quite complex. Also, it is a quick fix, so you will know the results of using it soon enough. If the issue persists, check out the next workaround.
Check server status –
Players can also try checking the server status of the game, as it can help determine whether the issue lies with their connection or not. The good thing is that CIG has a dedicated web page for checking the server status of their services. So, all you need to do is head to RSI Status and see whether the servers are operational or not. If the servers are down, consider trying again after some time.
Get the update –
For those who still haven’t updated the game, do so immediately. Once you have installed the latest available update, launch the game and see if the issue remains.
Well, that’s all we have on this issue for now. If you want something “complete”, why not try Starfield and join one of the in-game factions for a fun time? And as always, keep following DigiStatement. Also, read: Star Citizen Hub Authentication Error: Is There Any Fix Yet? (2023)
