South of Midnight: How to fix Stop Motion Animation Stuttering
As of now, there is no surefire way to fix the stop-motion animation stuttering in South of Midnight. The developers haven’t been in direct touch with the players encountering the problem (at least on the game’s Steam Discussion forum). So, for now, you are left with trying the workarounds we have:
Restart
Well, before any fix, it’s best to just restart the game and then your PC to rule out any temporary issues causing the problem. After this restart, launch the game to check whether the stuttering persists. If yes, try the next fix.
Lower in-game resolution
If the stuttering only occurs when the stop-motion animation setting is enabled, then consider lowering the in-game resolution. To access this setting, open the Settings menu of the game and then select the Graphics option. Here, change the Window Mode to Borderless Windowed. After this, select the Resolution setting and then lower it a notch. Once done, save the changes and then check whether the stuttering continues.
Disable Stop Motion Animation
If the issue persists, then all there’s left to do is disable the effect entirely. How to do so? Access the game’s Settings menu and select the Accessibility tab. Scroll down until you find the Stop Motion Animation option. Toggle it off and save the changes. Doing so will disable the effect. Now, you shouldn’t encounter any stutterings.
