But if it persists in your version of the game, there is a workaround that seems to be working for a lot of players. We have listed the steps below. Read through it and give it a try.
Download the Strings file
- Download this .zip file: Click on this Dropbox link (credit- @Dino) to download the .zip file containing the necessary strings file.
- Extract it: Once the download is complete, extract the files from the .zip archive. You can do this by right-clicking on the .zip file and selecting “Extract” or “Extract All.” Choose the destination where you want to extract the files.
- Locate the EP14 Folder: Now, you need to find the EP14 folder in your game’s directory. To do this on Steam, right-click on “The Sims 4” in your Steam library and select “Manage.” Then click “Browse Local Files.” This will open the folder where the game files are stored.
- Copy the Extracted Files: Once you’re in the game’s directory, locate the EP14 folder. Copy all the extracted files from the .zip file and paste them into the EP14 folder. This action will replace the missing strings files with the ones you downloaded.
So, if you followed the steps correctly, the in-game descriptions and other missing content will be restored to normal. If it doesn’t, try the next workaround:
Untick DLC
Well, as stated earlier, the developers have fixed the issue, and it should initiate a new download when you launch the game. However, if that’s not the case, you can try unticking the Horse Ranch Expansion Pack DLC via the DLC Manager of Sims 4, and then selecting it again. This will hopefully initiate the download that contains the fix.
Other Workarounds
Now, if the above-mentioned workarounds don’t work for you, try reinstalling the game, or verifying the game files via Steam. Also, you can try disabling the active mods in the game and then check whether the issue persists. But do note that these workarounds aren’t guaranteed to work for everyone, but if it comes down to the last resort, you can give them a shot.
