Yes, you got it right. In Rocket League, you play soccer but not with humans, you play it with cars! In the battle, there is a giant soccer ball and there are two goalposts. You have to use your cars to hit the ball, make it move around, and put it in the enemy goal post to score a goal! The rules are just like regular soccer, but having cars instead of humans is what makes the game so likable.
This is the same with the mobile version. You have cars, you have goalposts, you have a giant ball, and you have to score goals. Here are the differences. The PC version is a 3D game with 3D mechanics, but Sideswipe uses a 2D environment with a blend of 3D mechanics.
This is not a big thing to be concerned about since the core gameplay is still the same. In the PC version, the team cap is quite big, but in the mobile version, you have the team cap set at 2 as the max. This means you can enjoy 1v1 battles as well as 2v2 ones, but not more.
