Just a few days ago, Xiaomi rolled out the October security patch update for the global variant of Xiaomi Mi A3, and now Xiaomi is rolling out the October security patch to European Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A. This information was officially announced by Xiaomi in the Mi Community forum. A screenshot of the official announcement of this update is added below.
If you are using the latest MIUI Global ROM, you will get this update as an OTA update. However, you can also use the “Updater” app to check for updates. It is recommended to back up your data before upgrading. If you are facing some compatibility issues after installing this update, perform a hard reset.
As this is a staged rollout, it might take a few days for this update to reach your device. If you do not want to wait for the OTA update, you can go download this update and install it on your device. Download links are given below.

Note: This update is specifically for the European variant of Redmi Note 8 and 8A. Check your ROM region and variant with your device before you proceeding to avoid bricking of the device or any other inconveniences.
Both the Redmi 8 and 8A are eligible to get the MIUI 12 update and may receive this update by the end of this year.
