Coming right from the success of the PlayStation 2, Sony announced the PlayStation 3 at E3 2005 and released it the following year in 2006. Unfortunately, it wasn’t able to achieve what the PS2 did. Selling over 87.4 million units as of March 2017, the console was officially discontinued in 2015, starting in New Zealand. However, Sony still continues to release updates for it once in a while, allowing PS3 users to enjoy their game library. Unfortunately, there’s this 80710a06 error that’s become quite a major issue for many PS3 users.
This is what the players get when encountering this error: Page cannot be displayed 80710a06. The error occurs when users try to open a website via the console’s browser. PS3 Error 80710a06: How to fix it
Players can use the following workarounds to resolve this issue. Try these and see which ones are of help to you.
Change DNS –
The very first thing that we recommend you do is change DNS. And for that, what you need to do is head to Settings and select Network from the options present. Next, select Set up Internet connection and choose Use Wi-Fi. You will now be given two options: Easy and Custom. Select the latter. Now, set IP Address Settings to Automatic and have DHCP Host Name selected to Do Not Specify. As for DNS Settings, set it to Manual. Now, enter the following DNS address:
- Primary DNS: 8.8.8.
- Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
Leave the rest to default and exit from Settings.
Use HTTP –
One thing that might be causing this issue is that the web address you have entered is HTTPS. We suggest changing it to HTTP instead. This is what some players did too, so give it a try. And that should be all you need to fix this issue. Additionally, if your browser continues to open a website as using the https protocol, we suggest clicking the Triangle button, choosing file and then selecting Address Entry. Now, just change the URL to http from https.
Check PlayStation servers –
Make sure to check the PlayStation servers. Sometimes issues like this can arise when the PS servers are under maintenance or are simply down due to other reasons. Click on this link and it will take you to the PlayStation Network Service Status page. In case, the servers are down just wait for them to go back up and you should be able to continue on with your task without experiencing this error.
Disable Proxy –
Disabling Proxy could also be of help in dealing with this issue. And it’s pretty easy to do it too. Just open Settings, select Network, and choose Internet Connection Settings. Next, select Custom and choose Proxy Server from the list. Now, you will see two options: Do Not Use and Use. Select the former and exit Settings.
Update your console date and time –
For this PS3 user, the issue was fixed by simply updating the console’s date and time. If you haven’t tried this method before, we encourage you to do so now. To update the PS3’s date and time, head to Settings and choose Date and Time Settings. Find the Set Automatically option and set it to ON. If it shows, the correct date and time, then you can close the Settings. But if it doesn’t, you will have to manually change the date and time.
Update –
If you haven’t updated the PS3 to the latest version available, please go ahead and do so. A simple update is all that was needed to fix this issue for this user, so check if you have an update available or not. If there is one, download and install that update.
