Pokemon Scarlet & Violet (SV): How to beat Elite Four & Best Pokemon to use?
As we mentioned before, the Elite Four is a group of four pokemon trainers that you face in the game. While the game does not restrict you from fighting them right after you get 8 Gym Badges, it is generally recommended to keep them for the last. Along with the high-level pokemon opponents, you also cannot access the Pokemon Center once you initiate this battle. So, we highly recommend stocking up your life potions and other necessary items to sustain the long battles. Also, the game suggests you be around level 60 in order to face the Elite Four. Below, we have mentioned the four trainers, the type of pokemon they have, and the best types to counter them.
Elite Four 1: Rika-
If you decide to go against Rika, then make sure to have Water and Grass-type pokemon in your Pokedex. Rika’s mains are Ground-type so they are weak against water, grass, and ice-type pokemon. This trainer will use powerful pokemon like Camerupt, Donphan, Dugtrio, Clodsire, and Whiscash. So, you will need to be clever and use the right pokemon to counter them. Also, Clodsire can use Terastal and become Ground-type along with having Protect. So, this will quickly become a drawn-out battle in no time. We recommend keeping Meowscarada, Scovillain, or Quaquaval in your Pokedex.
Elite Four 2: Poppy-
Don’t go on the cute face of this trainer. She specializes in Steel-type pokemon. Because of this, it is best to use Fighting, Fire, and Ground-type pokemon against her. Poppy has pokemon including Copperajah, Magnezone, Bronzong, Tinkaton, and Corviknight in her arsenal. Tinkaton also has a Steel-type Terastal form that will give you some trouble. But, if you carry Arcanine, Ting-Lu, Sandy Shock, or Armarouge in your deck, then you should be able to defeat Poppy relatively easily.
Elite Four 3: Larry-
Larry uses Flying-type pokemon. This makes him weak against Electric, Ice, and Rock-type pokemon. Note that none of his pokemon are purely flying-type. So, you will need to check which of your pokemon are weak against this arsenal. Otherwise, you might face a crushing defeat. Larry carries Oricorio(Pom-Pom Style), Flamigo, Altaria, Tropius, and Staraptor. So, we recommend keeping Garganacl, Avalugg, Azumarill, or Tyranitar in your Pokedex when facing Larry.
Elite Four 4: Hassel-
Hassel is the last Elite Four trainer on our list. He specializes in Dragon-type pokemon. Hassel has Baxcalibur, Dragalge, Haxorus, Noivern, and Flapple on his team. To counter this arsenal, you will need to carry Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-type pokemon in your deck. We recommend keeping Dragonite, Avalugg, Glalie, or Tinkaton in your arsenal.
