Pokemon Center USA Location Guide & Details (2026)

If you have ever wondered whether you can walk into a proper Pokemon Center in the United States like the ones people visit in Japan, you are definitely not alone. A lot of fans keep hoping for that full experience, the big store filled with plushies, exclusive items, and that special atmosphere. The truth is, there are no permanent Pokemon Centers running in the USA right now. The closest thing most people get is a mix of one really good store and a few temporary options that pop up from time to time.

⚡ Quick Summary

There are no permanent Pokemon Centers in the USA right now. The closest thing is Nintendo New York at Rockefeller Center, which has a dedicated Pokemon section. Temporary pop up stores also appear during major tournaments, and official vending machines and online stores fill in the rest.

Back in 2001, there actually was a real Pokemon Center in New York City. It opened at Rockefeller Center and was quite popular for a few years. People could go there, buy official merchandise, and enjoy the whole Pokemon themed space. Unfortunately it closed in 2005. After that, the space was turned into what is now known as Nintendo New York. So in a way, that original Pokemon Center never really disappeared completely. It just changed into something a little broader.

Right now, Nintendo New York is the best place for getting that Pokemon Center feeling. You can find it at 10 Rockefeller Plaza in the heart of Rockefeller Center in New York City. The store is spread across two floors and has a really nice selection of Nintendo and Pokemon stuff. There is a dedicated area for Pokemon where you can find plush toys, figures, clothing, and trading cards. A lot of visitors say the second floor feels the most like what a Pokemon Center should be. You can also try out the latest games on big screens, take photos with big character displays, and browse through exclusive items that are only sold at this location. It is not exactly the same as the old Pokémon Center, but it comes pretty close for a lot of people.

Other than this, sometimes temporary Pokemon Center/Stores pop ups at big events. It can happen during major tournaments like North America International Championships or the World Championships. In these stores you can see limited edition merchandise. But these stores only stay open for a fixed period of days and may require you to book a slot in advance. Although, it is not a Pokemon Center but can give a same feeling.

There are also official Pokemon vending machines placed in some grocery stores across different states. These machines sell plush toys, cards, and small accessories. They are not as exciting as walking into a full store, but they do give you access to official products without needing to go online. You can check the official locator on the Pokémon website if you want to see whether any machines are near you.

For most people who cannot travel, the official Pokémon Center website remains the easiest way to buy authentic items. Many regular stores like Target and Walmart also keep a decent stock of new plushies and trading card sets. The selection is not as special as what you find at Nintendo New York or during pop ups, but it works fine if you just want to grab something new.

If you are planning to visit Nintendo New York, try in weekdays, as, weekends tend to get busy, especially when new products drop. The store is located in a very tourist friendly area, so you can easily combine it with other things to do nearby. Just keep in mind that while the Pokemon section is good, it is still part of a larger Nintendo store, so you will see plenty of Mario and Zelda items as well.

A lot of fans keep hoping that one day the company will open proper permanent Pokemon Centers in more American cities. Until then, Nintendo New York and the occasional event pop ups are the main ways to get that experience. It is not perfect, but it is still pretty special to walk into a big space filled with Pokémon merchandise and feel that excitement in person.
