Recreate Game’s Party Animals saw its official launch on September 20, 2023, and ever since then, the game has amassed a respectable following. At the time of publishing this guide, the game had a 24-hour peak of about 10K players, which, when compared to other brawler/party titles, is quite a good number. The game got a 30% discount a few days ago, which seems to have helped it attract a lot of new players. While this is great and all, certain issues in the game have been making it hard for players to enjoy it as it is. A major one happens to be related to the controller not being properly recognized.
Issues like this are not exclusive to Party Animals. This is a pretty common issue, and as such, it can be fixed pretty quickly with the help of a bunch of workarounds. So, without much further ado, continue reading to find out what workarounds you can use to fix this issue.
Party Animals not recognizing controller: How to fix it?
There’s no official fix for this issue, so you will have to make do with the following workarounds for now:
Restart –
One of the first things that we recommend that you do is restart the game. If that doesn’t work, restart your PC or console and see if that helps. Restarting is a good way to fix issues like this one, so let’s hope it works for you. However, if it doesn’t, switch to another workaround.
Repair the game –
A common troubleshooting method is to repair the game. When using this method, the game’s files are verified, and if some are either missing or found corrupted, they will be repaired accordingly. So, here’s how you repair the game’s file:
- Open Steam and click on Library.
- Next, right-click on Party Animals and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
- Once the process is over, restart your PC and then launch the game.
Update –
If you haven’t updated Party Animals in a while, do so. Furthermore, controllers these days need to be updated frequently, so check if there’s one available for it. If there is indeed one, then go ahead and download the update.
Connect controllers after launching the game –
If you are connecting multiple controllers to your system, consider doing so after launching the game. One player on Reddit shared that while running the game via GeForce Now, they connected their controllers after launching the game, and it recognized them correctly. So, you should do so as well.
Note: If you are using multiple controllers to play Party Animals’ local co-op mode via GFN, make sure that the multi-controller option is enabled, which can be found in the KBM overlay.
Switch to wired mode –
If you’ve been using your controller in wireless mode, we suggest you switch to wired. Use the cable that came with your controller and see if connecting it to your system works. You should try disconnecting and reconnecting your controller a few times. But in case this one doesn’t work, check out the next method.
Run Steam in Big Picture Mode –
Players are suggested to try running Steam in Big Picture Mode and then see if that helps. This method has worked for some other games with the same problem, so why not try this one? Plus, it’s pretty easy to switch to Big Picture Mode. All you need to do is click on the monitor-looking icon at the top right corner of the Steam client, and Steam will enter Big Picture Mode.
Use another controller –
This method is very helpful if you have an extra controller lying around. If the extra controller works, then the issue is with your first controller. However, if even the extra controller doesn’t work, then the problem lies with the game itself and not the controller.
Reinstall –
If nothing else works for this issue, then all you can do to fix it is to simply reinstall the game. Try that, and if that helps, then great. But if you are still having controller issues, we recommend that you contact support for additional assistance.
