August 10, 2023, marked the open beta release of Singularity 6 Corporation’s debut title, Palia. Available only for Windows, at least for now, the game is a cozy-sim MMO with a heavy focus on the community aspect. The farm/cozy-sim genre is primarily populated by single-player indie titles, so it’s nice to see a developer venturing into something new. The response for the game has been great so far, thanks to the amazing work done by the developers in polishing it for an open beta release. Players have been eagerly waiting for its official full release, but for now, they will have to make do with the open beta version. Despite being in open beta, the game is quite feature-rich. Like all farm/cozy-sim titles, Palia too comes packed with a plethora of quests, items, and such. Many of which will require guides and such. Getting and finding a Shepp can be a difficult task for some who are still learning all the intricacies of the game. Now, in Palia, there are actually two Shepps. One is the focus of this guide, and the other is used by the developers to refer to helpful members of the Palia community. Anyway, here, we will focus on the Shepp present in-game. So, what is it? And how can you get & find it? Let’s find out!
Palia Shepp: How to get & find
First of all, the prerequisite for finding a Shepp in Palia is to achieve at least level 4 friendship with any of the adult villagers in the game. We specifically mentioned adults because child villagers can’t become Shepp due to their young age.
Now, this is where the hard part comes in. Reaching level 4 friendship with a villager will require a lot of time. Unlike other farm/cozy-sim titles like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, it would take you literal real-life days to get to that level of friendship with a villager. After you get a villager of your liking to level 4 friendship, you can ask them to be your Shepp by choosing the following dialogue option – Will you be my Shepp?
For those unaware, the game has a specific quest for choosing your own Shepp. You can go and interact with Eshe and start the “Find Your Shepp” questline. Get an adult villager to level 4 friendship and ask them to be your Shepp. Once they accept your request, return to Eshe and converse with her to mark the quest as completed. Finishing this quest will net you 20 Renown.
Role of a Shepp in Palia?
Unfortunately, we don’t know what Shepp does for now because the game’s storyline pretty much ends here. Players are speculating that you could possibly romance your Shepp or learn some stuff from them, etc. But these are all, as we said earlier, guesses. Until Singularity 6 Corporation updates the questline and the story as a whole, this is it for now when it comes to Shepp in Palia.
