Let’s look into another famous anime series that needs a new, fresh, 2021 style gaming adaptation. Today we’ll be talking about the popular anime series, Psycho-Pass. We’ll look at a brief history of the anime series, followed by the gaming prospects of the same. Here’s what we know about the new Psycho-Pass game:
Psycho-Pass a cyberpunk psychological thriller anime series that has received critical acclaim across the world. The story follows a dystopian world where the citizens are monitored for their perceived criminality potential. This information is stored in what is called a Psycho-Pass. The Psycho-Pass’ hue dictates the score a person receives. When people reach beyond the threshold they are tracked down and apprehended or decomposed on the spot, based on severity.
We follow the journey of Akane, a rookie inspection within Unit One. Accompanied by an aide named Shinya, the stories follow their investigation and struggle against a criminal mastermind. The theme was somewhat replicated in Psycho-Pass 2, albeit with some changes. Akane is a very important character in the series, which saw another sequel titled Psycho-Pass 3.
With an engaging storyline, interesting characters, and a great setting, Psycho-Pass has amazing potential for a gaming adaption. Keeping that in mind, the series saw a game release in September 2016. Titled Psycho-Pass Mandatory Happiness, the game follows the first 6 episodes of the show, complete with new protagonists battling new foes. Originally developed for Xbox One, the developers released a port for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, accompanied by a PC port through Steam. The Xbox version of the game, however, wasn’t localized.
Psycho-Pass also saw the release of a public game event of sorts in 2020, where players would play the augmented reality game on their smartphones to travel across their city and solve puzzles/look for clues.
As far as 2021 is concerned, Psycho-Pass has no official news regarding any new games currently in development. With the plethora of games that are in the works, 2021 might bring us some news about a Psycho-Pass game sequel. However, till then we can just wait. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
