Mi 9T users in Europe finally get MIUI 12

We all know of Xiaomi’s penchant for rebranding devices. As a global brand present across several regions, it’s devices usually get different names for different regions. The popular Redmi K20 series in India is known as the Mi 9T series globally. Just like Xiaomi has different branding for different regions, it also does the same for MIUI. MIUI remains largely same across all regions, with some region-specific changes. For example, for European units, MIUI has to strictly adhere to GDPR guidelines.

While one would reasonably think that all regions would get updated at the same time, that is often not the case. Some regions end up waiting longer to get the latest updates. With MIUI 12 being a feature-packed release, it is safe to say that Xiaomi users must have been eager to get their hands on it. After all, it brought in a more refined UI, key visual changes and enhanced privacy features. It has made UI much more minimal and cleaner. It also introduced new app opening and closing animations, global free window, and Mi Health. It also improved full screen-gestures and quick settings.

So, when MIUI 12 (rolled out as version V12.0.2.0.QFJEUXM) finally started rolling out for European Mi 9T devices on July 21, users were no doubt very excited. But Xiaomi paused the updates just a few days later for Mi 9T Global, European, and Russian units, citing a minor issue. Users from the regions were no doubt disappointed.

But it looks like European Mi 9T users have cause for celebration today because Xiaomi has re-released the MIUI 12 update for their devices. The update is rolling out as version V12.0.2.0.QFJEUXM via an OTA update and comes in at a hefty size of 3.1 GB.
