Marvel's Spider-Man 2 How to play as Venom (Glitch Explained)

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has taken the gaming world by storm with its breathtaking graphics, engaging storyline, and, of course, the mechanics. In the game, you get to swing throughout New York City as Spider-Man. But what if we told you there’s a way to break the rules and roam the city as one of Spidey’s most iconic foes, Venom? Players have discovered a fascinating glitch that lets you temporarily step into Venom’s shoes, even though the developers never intended this feature. So, in this article, we’ll teach you how you can use this glitch to play and free roam as Venom in the game.

In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, players take control of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, offering a unique perspective on the lives of these two remarkable characters. However, thanks to an ingenious glitch, players can also take on the role of Venom, a character known for his dark and chaotic tendencies. While this may not be part of the game’s official gameplay, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities, not to mention a lot of funny interactions in the game.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 How to play as Venom (Glitch Explained)

The glitch, often referred to as the “Venom Glitch,” occurs during the “Don’t Be Scared” mission. In this mission, players briefly control Venom; it is during this short stint in control of Venom that players discover the loophole. The glitch takes place at Times Square, a bustling part of New York City in the game’s open world. At a specific point in this mission, you can exploit the glitch to escape the boundaries set by the developers and freely roam the city as Venom. Here are the steps to unleash this glitch, as discovered by the gaming community:

  • Take Control of Venom: During the “Don’t Be Scared” mission, you’ll momentarily control Venom. Once you’ve done so, you’re ready to proceed.
  • Visit Times Square: While in control of Venom, make your way to Time Square in New York.
  • Scale a Building: Once you’ve arrived at Times Square, you need to spam the jump button to scale a building. Now, to identify the building, you can look up the billboard on the left, which should read “Blackman”. It is this building that you need to climb.
  • Bypass the Invisible Walls: Once you reach the top of the building, you will find out that there are invisible walls on your left and right. What you need for this glitch is to disable the left wall, and in order to do so, you will have to run into the invisible wall at the right. Try this a few times, and that should disable the left wall, allowing you to move further in that direction.
  • Roam as Venom: With the left wall down, you’re now free to roam New York City as Venom.

You can also go near a water body and try swimming there, as this can lead to some hilarious animation sequences that we won’t be spoiling here. And if that is not all, you can visit a specific area of the map and have Venom ride a bike, much like Peter or Miles. Watch Venom zip around the city streets in a way you never expected to see.

Proceed with Caution

It’s crucial to exercise caution when exploiting this glitch, as it could potentially disrupt your game. So, it is advisable to use a manual save file and only use the glitch for experimentation rather than progressing through the main storyline (although you cannot). This way, you can ensure that your in-game progress remains unaffected.

Well, that is all you need to know about the Venom glitch in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We hope you were able to follow our guide with ease. Still, if you are a visual learner, you can refer to this YouTube video from Ellemen, which can come in handy, especially if you are having a hard time trying to figure out the exact building you need to scale for this glitch.
