Recently, we discussed the false ban issue that has been troubling a lot of players in Marvel Rivals. You can read all about that here. Now, even for those who are not banned, internet issues are making the game unplayable. That brings us to the topic of this guide: the high ping issue in Marvel Rivals. So, is there any fix yet? Well, continue reading to know more about this issue.
Many Marvel Rivals players have reported discrepancies in ping readings, where the server ping shows a decent value of 45–50 ms before a match. But as soon as they start a match, the previously decent pings shoot all the way up to 90 plus! This makes the game stuttery and unplayable at times. High ping, after all, is the last thing you want in an online gaming session. So, if you too have been struggling with a similar issue, stick around until the end.
Marvel Rivals High Ping Issue: Is there any fix yet
Thankfully, there has been a small update on these connectivity issues in Marvel Rivals. The 18th December update notes for Marvel Rivals mention ongoing efforts to address network stability, including partial fixes for map loading and connectivity issues under poor network conditions. While some causes have been resolved, developers are continuing to analyze and address other potential factors. So, it is possible that a future update/patch would be released that could fully resolve these connectivity issues. Till then, here are some potential fixes that you could try out.
Restart and basic checks
Start with a reboot of your PC. After rebooting, run the game as an administrator by right-clicking its .exe file and selecting “Run as Admin.” Additionally, close any background applications, like browsers or streaming apps, to free up bandwidth and avoid connectivity conflicts with the game. These steps have helped players with packet loss issues so do give it a try!
Check your internet
To rule out internet-related reasons, try restarting your router to refresh your connection and resolve any network glitches. If possible, use a LAN cable instead of Wi-Fi for a more stable and faster connection. You can also switch to a different network to rule out issues with your current one. Launch the game and see if this fixes the issue.
Try different servers
Right now, the servers are overloaded and for a workaround, try switching servers from the game’s main menu. Go to the Team Lobby menu, select the Server Selection option, and choose a different region with a slightly higher ping than your current server. Make sure to experiment with different servers to see which provides the most stable connection for your gameplay.
VPN
One potential fix for high ping issues is to use a VPN and connect to a server near your location. This may help because the game seems to use your IP’s geolocation to assign servers, which might not always align with your chosen region. By connecting via VPN, players have reported more stable connections and reduced ping, even if it’s not perfect.
DNS
Lastly, switching DNS is yet another effective fix worth a shot. You can try DNS such as Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220). To do this, on Windows, open Network Settings, navigate to your internet connection’s Properties, and set the DNS server assignment to “Manual”. Enter the chosen DNS addresses, save the changes, and then restart your router and PC. Relaunch the game to check if this resolves the connectivity issues.
Well, those are the most effective workarounds we have right now for the high ping issues in Marvel Rivals. If you are also struggling with packet loss issues in the game, click here for the fixes. Finally, stay tuned to DigiStatement for more gaming content like this.
