Madden 24 has finally been announced. Slated to release for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, it’s being once again published by EA and developed by EA Tiburon. And the game has a scheduled release date too. Mark your calendars for August 18, 2023, if you already haven’t. Madden 24 promises to offer better AI, the newest iteration of the FieldSENSE tech, and much more. Well, Madden 23 wasn’t that great, at least according to critic reviews, so it’s imperative for EA Tiburon to make sure that the upcoming title is at least good enough for fans. Well, frankly, we are quite tired of the staleness of the series, so it makes sense for EA to make Madden 24 enjoyable, at the very least. Now, since the game is already releasing for current-generation consoles and PC, players are curious if it will be available on the Steam Deck too.
Handheld gaming has become exponentially popular ever since the Steam Deck was launched last year in February 2022. And with the Asus ROG Ally launching this month on June 13th, the market for handheld PCs isn’t going to slow down anytime soon. Titles like Elden Ring, The Witcher 3, and Stardew Valley are already available on the Deck, and more popular games are added to the list every day. But what about Madden 24? Will it be making a debut on the Steam Deck? Let’s find out!
Madden 24 Steam Deck Release Date & Support Details
At the time of writing, there is no official confirmation on the release date of Madden 24 on Steam Deck. However, the game’s release has been scheduled for August 2023, so there are possibilities for a Steam Deck release (officially). But, as of now, the game’s supported platforms include PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC only.
Speculations
Well, one thing to note is that Madden 23 is playable on the Steam Deck. Well, it is not Steam Deck verified, but it is still playable. Well, on ProtonDB, Madden 23 has received the “Gold” tag, which means that players can run the game on the handheld after tweaking the in-game settings. So, based on this, we are somewhat confident that the upcoming title could run on the Steam Deck as well. But, since this is purely speculation, take this information with a grain of salt until we get an official confirmation from the developers.
If you didn’t already know, games on Steam Deck fall under one of the four categories – Verified, Playable, Unknown, and Unsupported. Verified games don’t need any tweaking since they work “out-of-the-box”, while Playable, on the other hand, does. Unknown and Unsupported are as the name itself suggests, so no explaining there.
The chances of Madden 24 getting the Steam Deck Verified badge are slim since Madden 23 didn’t receive it as well. But, regardless of whether the game receives official Deck verification, it should most likely be playable on the handheld. Plus, handheld PC gaming is on the rise, so it makes sense that the developers want to increase the game’s reach by making it compatible with the platform.
