Thanks to all the advancements in hardware capabilities, consoles today are much more powerful than they were decades ago. The ninth generation of consoles, comprising the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, boast some of the fastest computing power and are superior to prior releases. These can support real-time ray tracing and even output 4K resolutions, which is a first for consoles. Both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S opted for using Solid State Drives making game load times much faster. Essentially, this ninth generation of consoles is much more capable of running more demanding games without sounding like a jet engine. Features like 120 Hz support and 4K 60 FPS output are already becoming the norm on consoles. And console gamers have been waiting for a long time to play games on 120Hz. PS5 users are certainly excited for more games to be 120Hz supported.
Games that feature FPS and racing gameplay tend to greatly benefit from higher frame rates. Especially in competitive games where having a higher frame rate is a must. The higher your frames per second, the smoother the overall gameplay experience and a much more responsive playthrough. When it comes to higher frames, PCs have consoles beat by a long, long mile. However, consoles can at least finally catch up with PCs even if they are at a massive disadvantage. The PS5’s raw power can now handle higher frame rates, and as such, we are bound to see more games that utilize this capability. It’s astonishing how far consoles have come. Some developers have already released games with support for 120 Hz on the PlayStation 5. So, what are the names of these games? Are there more upcoming games with 120hz support in production? Let’s find out!!
List of 120Hz Supported PS5 Games
Now, first and foremost, you need to know that without a 120 Hz monitor or TV, you will not be able to experience 120 Hz gameplay. Well, getting one can put a hole in your wallet, but it’s worth it. Before we go on and start with our list, you should also try to know how to enable 120 Hz on the PlayStation 5. To start, head straight to the PS5 settings. Next, select Screen and Video and navigate to Video Output. There you will find six sub-options. Scroll down to the last option, and you will find the “Enable 120 Hz Output” sub-option. It will be set to automatic by default, and you need to turn it ON. If there’s no option, then your display doesn’t support 120 Hz. You can also turn off the 120 Hz output option if you don’t want your games to run on higher frames. Just set the sub-option to Off, instead of Automatic and it will be done.
