Life Is Strange: True Colors is a graphic novel-style adventure game from Square Enix’s European Subsidiary. It was released in its entirety on 10 September 2021 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Stadia, and also, coming at a later date for the Nintendo Switch.
It is the fifth installment or sequel in the Life Is Strange series, and the third main title in the series, succeeding Life Is Strange 2 from 2018. The series is famous and receives critical acclaim mainly for its stories and dramatic branching plots. It is an episodic story game that hooks players in, mainly for the incredible, emotional and also, unpredictable story. The main story featured in this game focuses on Alex Chen, a young woman who can experience the emotions of others, as she tries to solve the mystery behind her brother’s death.
Life is Strange 2: True Colors is a game where the story is told in third-person view. Players control the main protagonist, Alex, and explore, uncover mysterious things and also solve different puzzles. Likewise, players make difficult and consequential decisions throughout the game as the story can change drastically based on players’ actions. The game takes place in the fictional Haven Springs. Players communicate with NPCs in the location using a branching dialogue tree.
The main character, Alex also has psychic empathy power and as a result, can perform telepathy. Consequently, the psychic power allows players to discover NPCs’ emotions and when Alex communicates with them, it creates a ” Nova ” that transforms the world around her to reflect the NPCs’ emotions. As a result, players have an opportunity to figure out what is wrong and try to comfort the NPCs.
