Riot Games, the developer and publisher of League of Legends has accidentally revealed their plans for Karthus. Recently, a few heavy mid lane buffs for the character were spotted on the LoL test servers. The accidental leak has stirred up the community as they wonder what’s to come next.
Following we have gathered all the news related to the leak and the ability buffs for Karthus.
Karthus
As described by Riot, Karthus is an undying spirit and a harbinger of oblivion. His haunting songs are a prelude to the horror of his nightmarish appearance. When Karthus emerges from the Shadow Isles, it is to bring joy of death to mortals.
For many past few season, Karthus has struggled to have an influence on the Summoner’s Rift. According to a statistical analysis, in patch 10.13 87.44% of games involving him ended up in a Jungle Role. Thus, Riot was looking forward to solve this issue and bring him back in the meta with some heavy mid lane buffs.
Accidental Leak
The buffs for Karthus were still in the development stage as Riot was set to release them in the future. They had decided to bring the changes on July 8, 2020 in the Patch 10.14 update. However, they seem to have messed up somehow as the changes were spotted on the test servers yesterday.
The developers had decided to amp up his W ability, The “Wall of Pain”. In the test servers, the Wall had some interesting changes as it affected the ground enemies as well along with interrupting dashes. It works in a similar fashion like Cassiopeia’s Miasma.
The Wall also delivered a 40% slow and a 15% magic resist debuff. To add to that, the zone control abilities also seem to last a second longer after the buff.
Riot’s Response
The developing studio tried to cover up the accident by stating that these buffs are not a guaranteed addition. According to Riot, things are still subject to change as they continue to work on it. But here is a small curve ball. They also mentioned that this isn’t the full list either, meaning more tweaks could be on their way!
Conclusion
While these buffs may make it to the final cut and eventually land in the game, certain balancing might follow. These changes are just go bring back Karthus in the meta of LoL however to keep things balanced, Riot might reduce his Q ability damage.
After the statement from the Devs, nothing can be taken as concrete however one thing is for sure, Karthus will see some more gameplay in the 10.14 Patch update.
