League of legends patch 10.10 changes mid lane nerf

In an interesting development from Riot, the position that has been the long-standing most influential in the game is getting nerfed. When we think of lanes in League of Legends, mid pop up the first in our heads. In recent years, devs have worked on slowly buffing top to make it more balanced and now that bot is also getting buffed while a consecutive nerf to midlane heroes, we are looking at a new meta of Lol. Mid lane has been the go-to for players to climb rank and the legacies of players like Faker and Bjergsen have been forged in the mid lane. Now that a new era is about to go live on May 13 with patch 10.10 we are definitely excited to see how players adapt.

Gameplay Thoughts post just went up
-Position Power General Philosophy
-Sleight Mid Nerf
-Sleight Bot Buff
-Matchmaking Algorithm improvements
-Ranked Seeding

According to Riot’s lead game developer Mark “Scruffy” Yetter the devs are happy with top lane now shining a bit brighter and the next focus will be the mid lane. In an official post from him termed as gameplay thoughts, he said:

We think mid should be among the strongest positions in the game, but currently it is carrying a bit too much power. Slight nerfs should bring it in line, and we still intend for mid to be a highly influential role. We will likely have to change some mechanics (not just tune numbers) to effectively nerf mid without indirectly hitting top.

Yetter said that these nerfs would objectively nerf top-tier champions’ mechanics as well as tweaking their numbers. These include Katarina, Diana & more.

So mid nerf on which heroes this patch?

Diana has thrived in Season 10 and we can definitely expect her to be on the cut-down chart. Currently, the information about which heroes will be targeted hasn’t been provided.

Heroes like Katarina (53% win rate with a 7.7% pick rate), Ekko (52%, 5.5%), and Katarina (53%, 7.8%) are other candidates for changes. While mid is getting nerfed, bot will be the recipient of a boost from Riot. We have a lot to look forward to with patch 10.10. We will keep you updated on any changes on League of Legends.
