Ah, the classic RPG experience. You’re deep into an intense quest, fully immersed in the story, only for a pesky bug to slam the brakes on your progress. Frustrating, right? The Demons of Trosky quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance II seems to be giving players a headache, with reports of the quest bugging out and preventing completion. Whether it’s NPCs refusing to cooperate, objectives not updating, or something else entirely, this issue is making the quest feel more cursed than the demons themselves! So, is there a fix? Read till the end to find out.
The Demons of Trosky quest is meant to be a fun little side activity where you help clear out so-called “demons” from Trosky Castle by sprinkling holy (or magic) water on fireplaces. Sounds simple, right? Well, not for everyone. Some players have reported an incredibly frustrating bug where the fifth and final fireplace just does not spawn or cannot be interacted with, making the quest impossible to complete. Imagine searching for an hour only to realize the game itself is stopping you from completing the quest. Given that the quest is only available for a limited time, this bug is more than just an annoyance and can lock you out of a rare reward permanently. So, how to fix it?
Kingdom Come Deliverance II (KCD 2) Demons of Trosky Quest Bug: Is there any fix yet
For now, we do not have an official sure-shot way to fix this bug. Players have, however, found a couple of workarounds that will surely get you out of the soft lock. We have discussed these potential fixes below.
Dev mode and Coordinates (PC only)
The most popular workaround for the missing fireplace bug involves using the developer console in-game. By enabling dev mode in Steam’s Launch Options (-devmode), players can access the in-game console with the Tilde (~) key and manually teleport to the missing fireplace using the command. To do this, open Steam, right-click Kingdom Come Deliverance II in your Games Library, and go to Properties. Under the General tab, find Launch Options and type “-devmode”. Launch the game, press the Tilda (~) key to open the console, then type “goto 2446 2622 220” without the quotes to teleport to the missing fireplace. Interact with it, then use goto 2446 2615 220 to exit safely. This should complete the quest.
Von Bergow
To avoid this bug, make sure to complete the Demons of Trosky quest before reporting to Von Bergow about what happened at Semine during the Necessary Evil quest. Once you report to him, the door to a crucial fireplace on the 3rd floor in the eastern area becomes inaccessible, making the quest impossible to finish. If you’ve already progressed past this point and are locked out, the only workaround is to reload an earlier save before speaking to Von Bergow.
Restart the Game and Run as Administrator
If reloading a checkpoint or restarting the mission doesn’t fix the issue, try closing the game completely and then relaunching it. Also, before launching the game, right-click on the game’s exe file and click on the Run an Administrator option. This can sometimes reset certain in-game triggers, potentially unlocking the missing fireplace or making the quest progress properly.
Verify Game Files and Check for Updates
Lastly, if the bug persists, go to Steam, right-click on Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files. This will check for any corrupted or missing files and restore them. Also, ensure your game is fully updated, as developers may have released a patch to fix this bug.
